Before I start this thread, I want to begin by saying I am a Pro Wrestling fan and a MMA fan. (although I am more of a New Japan Pro Wrestling fan, than a WWE fan.)
I see all the hate that CM Punk gets and that he does not deserve to be in the UFC (which I respect and agree with to an extent since he is an amateur and really not athletic enough to even win off of his athletic build alone), but he seems to take his MMA career and UFC with respect. He does not gloat and say he can beat everyone on the planet. He is a humble dude and is taking his fights in a way that is refreshing for a "celebrity". I will be rooting for him and hoping he shows a bit more of his skill set.
As an MMA fan, I know it is somewhat looked down upon for being a Pro Wrestling fan, but I am a fan of someone stepping out of their comfort zone and follow their dream!
Here is to a fun card and a good fight from CM Punk!
Any other Sherbros pulling for the pro wrestler?

Always liked and will always root for him no matter how much shit he gets on these boards.

WAR Punk

War Punk
and I never liked or gave a shit about pro wrestling

"Pro wrestling"

But yea, i'm rooting for Punk. He's humble and has balls to come back after the embarrassment that first fight was.

Just watched a short interview they posted on youtube and he said he called Dana up the next day saying he would like a second chance but he'd understand if Dana wants to cut him.

Increased my respect towards him even more.

I like CM Punk because fucking everyone is rooting against him.
He has no skills and he is boring to listen to.
I can't see how he was ever popular in the WWE.
However, I hope he beats Mike Jackson.

one of the deadliest fighters in the business

a career full of wins

Picking him to win (maybe?)… would like to see him display his mic drop skills Saturday Night. Call out a top-tier fighter than come in the octagon during the co-main and hit Covington with a chair...

I don't give a shit about WWE but I hope Punk wins

I just feel bad for the dude lol

He reminds me of myself at like 10 wanting to grow up to be a pro athlete but he never really grew up and realized he wasn't athletic enough

Besides unlike Mickey Gall who was a real fighter who's career would have been ruined with an L to Punk Mike Jackson is a journalist who like trains sometimes. He's just happy to get the payday

Hahaha that would be great! But I think he knows he can't take on a top 10 opponent!

I think he's got a ton balls for coming back and doing this. I mean the money's gotta be a factor as well, I think I read online his first fight was like $500k?

Imagine being famous, popular in WWE, and you come out and get choked in a couple minutes. A lot of media and fighters saying he doesn't belong, he sucks, bla bla. I honestly think most people wouldn't have the balls to go out there again. His goal is to win one fight in the UFC... He isn't Colby'ing all over twitter about how badass he is. He's a humble dude that wants to fight...

I mean Ronda goes from the UFC, one of the most popular fighters in the UFC, and seems to get a pretty warm reception from everyone over there. I don't see any wrestlers saying that she doesn't belong there, or that she just is getting to be in the main event of Wrestlemania. People were happy for her.

I don't get the hate for Punk being on the main card... He's a draw. UFC cares about $... not feelings.

That is a great, funny way of looking at it! And yeah they are both on equal playing field, in terms of experience. Basically two amateurs.

punk is doing this for andre. he is doing it for the ultimate warrior. he is doing this for the macho man. he is here to take a stand. he is doing this for all those who died in the name of professional wrestling. he is here to silence those who say professional wrestling isnt strong. he is coming. get ready mma. he is coming. he is coming to bang. you are about to find out what true fighting is all about. this is for hogan . He has the power of hulkamania surging through his veins. he can not lose

Good to see an open-minded poster on sherdog.

There should be thread poll, whether the majority of Sherdog is rooting for Punk or not. I'd say alot of us are actually rooting for him at the end of the day.

If CM Punk had either fought and won a few fights in a smaller organization, or fought in the UFC for the same pay as a new guy I would respect him more. But to fight for 6 digits on a PPV main card in his first pro fight, get beaten easily and get a 2nd fight, also for 6 digits and on the main card of a PPV is just stupid.
