2007 Anderson would beat most of today's Middleweights easily. Whittaker would give him a tough fight but that's about it.

Truthfully, MMA hasn't evolved all that much since the mid 2000s. The only divisions that have gotten significantly better are 145 & below, simply because they've gotten more exposure since then. Fedor, Anderson, and GSP beat 99% of their respective 2017 divisions fairly easily.

Prime Anderson most likely loses to usada via KO.

But the interesting thing is current Silva(vs Brunson) has better takedown defense than "prime" Silva(vs Lutter). His takedown defense was embarrassing and literally nonexistent back then. So would "prime" Silva do better or worse against an elite wrestler like Romero? Maybe current Silva has a better shot.

Anderson is Anderson for a reason and he will always be one of the all-time greats, but I remember even in his day, none of his opponents really impressed me all that much. MW is much tougher today IMO.

Sure DC didn't finish Silva, but he took virtually no risks to do so. He took him down at will with no difficulty.

Obviously its not a black mark against Andy to lose given the circumstances and caliber of opponent, but you're way overselling what he did in that fight. Andy accepted an unfair fight, and the outcome was as might be expected.

MW was pretty light on explosive, athletic wrestlers during his prime.

I think he very likely could find his way to the top, but no chance at all he has a super long title reign like he did during his day.

The division is much deeper and more suited to exploit his (relative) weaknesses.
