She's gargantuan for the division. She's even bigger than JJ who struggles to make the weight. Letourneau was on the TUF 135 season but I believe she lost in the elimination round. She's more of a natural flyweight same as JJ and Shevchenko.

I would agree with this. If they wanted her to fight VL they might as well give her the title shot lol. Big fan of Rose but she's just not ready for the big 3 yet (JJ, Claudia, Val).

Yup .. that is about the jist of it. Rose vs Maryna would at least be competitive as they have similar skill sets. Maryna's first 6 pro wins were all by arm bar, even as she has her base in boxing. Maryna would have the striking edge, while Rose would have the submission edge, and if Shelby has any interest in doing his job right, this is fight he will make next for Rose.

Match up Val and JoJo ...

I'd rather see Rose be given Val next than be given Joanna next.
 
It's one of the best matches to make in that division right now, but I'm not sure if the UFC wants to risk Val killing off a new contender (which is very possible).

I want to know your opinion on how The Val vs. Jo Jo matchup would go, because at this point I feel like it would be offering Jo Jo up to the slaughter house. Jo Jo should fight someone like Bec, in my opinion. Val should fight the cookie monster (assuming she wins her fight next week).

She also fought her to a very close decision which I was happy to see JJ win, but felt could have gone either way. I wasn't sitting there counting strikes, but it definitely seemed to leave room for debate.

Big step up for Rose, and a compelling matchup. Make it happen, Bozo!
 
Letourneau v Rose wont happen.

Theres a very long line for a title shot at Joanna, huge list of fighters, and Valerie having already had a shot is at the back of the queue.

Its not like WBW where there are only 3 or 4 fighters who can fight for a title so they regurgitate whoever they can, or whoever can string two wins together...

Karolina K, Rose, Jag, Tecia, probably even Esparza are ahead of Valerie for a title shot... Even Moroz is probably closer

Val knows this, so is trying to call out the person who's pretty close to a shot to try and jump the queue..


Aint gonna happen

Vals probably got more chance of a title shot at Bantamweight as it stands .

Val showed well against JJ, as good as anybody save Gadelha. The first 3 rounds were pretty competitive before JoJed took over in the championship rounds. With what Joanna Champion showed that evening and with Claudia's team (Nova Uniao) looking God awful AA of late, I see JJ wearing gold for quite a while to come.

What? I agree. That's why I think Val would slaughter Jo Jo (calderwood) and would rather see Val against the cookie monster. I'm a huge Calderwood fan, but she needs to be built back up. Hence why I think Val vs. Carla and Jo Jo vs. Bec are good matches to make.

Oh my man I bleed Scottish blood lol, love me some Calderwood. I favor Val heavily over either actually, but I feel esparza has absolutely nothing for Letourneau. Carla struggled mightily taking down JJ and she'd find similar lack of success against Val I feel. She lacks the skills and power to hurt her on the feet and the size difference is just too much IMO.

To be honest, I can't disagree that the previous versions of JoJo would get slaughtered by Valerie, but JoJo has changed camps, and at least has the size to deal with Valerie. As per usual, JoJo's greatest strength would be in clinch, unless she has brought up her defensive striking since we've last seen, and can implement her kicking game more .. that was the biggest hole in her game, her lack of striking defense.

One reason that I feel JoJo "might" be able to be somewhat competitive with Valerie is that Val is not a pressure fighter, which is the type that I think JoJo struggles with the most. But I also don't disagree that JoJo vs Bec would be the more evenly matched, and winnable fight for JoJo, it would be ..

I don't like Carla vs Valerie because the size difference would be even greater than Carla vs JJ .. I just feel like it would look like such a freak show match up. But, I also think that Carla would have an easier time implementing her wrestling game against Valerie, who is not known for great TDD because I don't think she has faced too many pure wrestlers.
 
I enjoy watching Rose fight, but there's just something that jumps out that tells me she's not ready for the top competition. I think Val would beat her pretty handily right now.
