Opinion Leopards Are Eating My Face Thread/Having The Day You Voted For

And when the SNAP benefits don't go out in November?

$hit's gonna get REAL.

Prophet Bob Marley said "A hungry man is an angry man" Every single one of us needs healthy food every single day, and all of us can picture what it would be like to be malnourished.

What lengths would you go to to feed your family? Les Miserables anyone?

If SNAP benefits aka food stamps don't keep flowing you are going to have one angry populace.

And those people aren't going to be fed by you pointing at the other side and saying it is their fault. They will decide it is both your worthless asses fault and if you are lucky, the worst thing they will do is vote you out.

That there is already endemic hunger in the US is a fucking sin. The fact that 10's if not 100's of thousands of people, including children, go hungry in the so called "greatest nation on earth" is a crime. The fact that this shutdown may well exacerbate it by pushing those on the brink over the line to those who can't afford enough food for their families is terrifying.

It will also have a very real impact on the economy. Those snap benefits go to all the food sellers in the US mostly to the big chain grocery stores, who will see a decline in sales and profits pretty much immediately. People worried about filling their pantry don't go out and buy I-phones and giant tv's, they buy rice, beans and potatoes......

You can go your entire lifetime not needing our government to subsidize $50,000 Tesla purchases or keep some orchestra up and running, or buy themselves private jets or put tampons in men's rooms or whatever silly shit you want to point out the other side doing, but you can only go about 3 to 4 weeks before your body starts to eat itself in a last ditch effort to stay alive.

If the US government can't provide safe water, access to food, access to some form of medical care, a functioning military, access to shelter and a fair judicial system, that government won't last long much longer.

This is why this shutdown will end very soon. Because stories of military families standing in giant food bank lines and children suffering from malnutrition will be their downfall. And our self absorbed, comfortable, self enriching and feckless politicians aren't going to hurt their chances of continuing to ride the gravy train by pissing off an entire nation by leaving a good portion of us with not enough food.

Jah save us all.

Importing cheap foreign labour drives down wages. Those savings have been passed on to the consumer. Is that something that you support? IMO, we should allow for wage expansion in the agricultural sector, and be willing to pay slightly more.

So Pegasus is now in unmarked spinter vans. Pegasus you asked? it's a tool when protests or just sitting in a park could get your phone and all its content stripped. Remember when tea party then MAGA railed about your privacy being invaded under democrats well Republicans are doing it. So it's being recommended to have your phone in airplane mode all the times not communicating over Bluetooth or wifi.

Nevermind food not being sold in Canada and Mexico. Businesses are losing big in Mexico and Europe.

As a former farm laborer (I'm Black BTW), I can honestly say that there was no "grocery debt" then.

Trump's new beef plan just hit a wall in Texas

"Texas ranchers are pushing back against President Donald Trump's proposal for the United States to purchase beef from Argentina in an effort to lower prices for American consumers.

"We would buy some beef from Argentina," Trump said Sunday aboard Air Force One, during a flight from Florida to Washington. "If we do that, that will bring our beef prices down."

Earlier in the week, Trump promised to address rising food costs as part of broader efforts to curb inflation. U.S. beef prices have surged due to a combination of drought, herd reductions, and a sharp drop in Mexican imports following outbreaks of screwworm-a flesh-eating pest that has devastated cattle herds. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the beef and veal index rose 13.9 percent in the 12 months leading up to August. Prices for uncooked beef steaks jumped 16.6 percent over the same period.

Industry experts say high beef prices are unlikely to ease soon due to the long timeline required to rebuild cattle herds, along with import restrictions and tariffs on key suppliers such as Brazil.

The National Cattlemen's Beef Association (NCBA), the national affiliate of the Texas Cattle Feeders Association, issued a statement criticizing the proposal. CEO Colin Woodall said the plan unfairly benefits foreign producers at the expense of American ranchers. "

We were at full employment before Trump even took office, the labor pool simply does not exist.
