Rumored Leon Edwards vs. Colby Covington in the works for UFC 295 on Nov. 11 at MSG

Right I’m the hater…

more like a logical fan that knows Islam vs. Leon would be a more competitive and entertaining night.

no true MMA fan would pick Colby/Leon over Islam/Leon
Skillwise, history wise, absolutely.

Entertainment wise, forget it.

and with a grand total of 0 wins over non-retired fighters during the past half-decade. What a fucking joke.

It won't be long before he holds 0 wins over UFC fighters period.

(soon to be) 39-year-old RDA
39-year-old career journeyman Max Griffin
3-fight losing streak journeyman Bryan Barbarena

All three are on the brink of retirement or being cut.

1-1-0 In 2 years got Leon a title shot with a win over a now retired guy who just lost to Jake paul we can all play this game.
You apparently cant, haha. Did you mean 1-0 (1)? And forget that he didn't get it FROM beating Diaz, but because they were trying to keep him busy after having earned his spot, and his opponents kept never showing up? The 3 years between fighting RDA and Usman, Leon had been booked for 7 fight dates. Leon has tried to be active and kept stepping up. Colby has been sitting down. Difference

Caesars is the only bookies who have odds on this. The odds are currently dead even. Sounds about right.

Dos Anjos
RDA hasn't been a ranked welterweight since Nov 2020, and he won't be ranked at lightweight very shortly either (and shouldn't be now, considering he's been booked at WW for nearly a year now).

But that's not the point. He beat RDA when he was at the top, same as Leon did. So that win SHOULD have worth. Problem is, he already cashed in on that worth several times over. He has no value left to his wins other than fondling an already-on-his-way-out Masvidal for 25 minutes nearly one and a half years ago

Nice excuses

here let me try

Colby just beat a two time title challenger, hasn’t lost a non title fight in almost 8 years. He was ready to fight khamzat or whoever the ufc asked but he got assaulted by masvidal, leading him to get a surgery out of his control. He even showed up and made weight as a back up fighter for the last ww title fight.

This isn’t ultimate booking championship. Only difference in my eyes is Colby is held to a completely different standard than other fighters.

Oh it’s damn true buddy

between July 21st 2019 and July 21st 2022 and leon fought two people, Belal a no contest and a win over nate diaz. You may not like it but what I said is the unabashed truth yes it’s missing context. But we all do that when it suits the narrative you push, the two people who like your post hate Colby Covington with all their heart and they wouldn’t give him credit for anything he’s ever done.

Durr, that's not 1-1-0, fool.

Colby shouldn't get the shot but he'll probably win the fight. Leon probably wins round 1 and Colby wears him out after that in route to a 4-1 or 3-2 decision. We can shit on Colby all we want, but he's a great fighter even if he has inactivity issues. I'm not convinced Edwards beat peak Usman in the 3rd fight, Usman looked bad. Colby with his wrestling and pressure will eventually wear Leon out.

With point deduction it could have been draw at most, but i think overall Edwards was clearly better fighter than Usman that night. I also think Colby will take Edwards, he dont have Usmans problems.

Absolutely not. Any fighter would be getting rightly shat on getting a title fight under these circumstances.

Leon didn’t. He got a title shot with his only win in 2 years being Nate Diaz. Masvidal got one coming off a title fight loss. A title fight he didn’t even deserve. This isn’t an egregiously bad title fight by any means, there have been worse or similar in the same weight class recently I agree in a meritocracy, Belal gets the title fight. But this is imo the clear clear number 2 anything else would be dead wrong and dare I say unfair.
