Media Leon Edwards scoffs at Colby Covington suggesting he would be stripped of the title

Leon sat out for TWO YEARS, and beat NATE DIAZ to get a title shot.

Does he have any awareness of how dumb he sounds?

Yes while Leon was sitting out, Colby had his fights against Usman and lost.

And now while Colby is sitting out, Leon had his fights against Kamaru and won. And that's where we're at, and Leon can refuse fights for the near future cause he's champ. Too bad for Colby.

Colby gets lucky but Leon not the promoter. Dana UFC pull this shit often. It is prize fighting, go for the $. If Colby the best payday then do it. Who else going to sell more? Khantmakeweightzat ?

Would love to believe Leon and wish this was the truth
Dana will absolutely drop Leon like a hot potato, if it comes to that <{1-17}>
But very obviously this, considering Dana has already advertised his intention publicly

Yup. Khamzat would easily sell twice the PPVs of Colby right now.

But hold onto to that one weight miss for dear life instead I guess.

Colby beats everyone else at welterweight though.

Same situation as Whittaker. It’s like saying he wouldn’t have deserved a shot at Pereira if he had beat Izzy again, which I bet no one would try to argue.

LMAO, do you?

Then he should prove it instead of turning down fights and sitting out for a year on purpose. Colby hasn't had a winning streak in 5 years and hasn't beaten someone that wasn't already on a 2 fight losing streak since he beat RDA.

Leon sat out for two years and retained his top 5 ranking, then beat Nate Diaz.

So if Colby beats a lightweight journeyman now, he should get a shot too, right?

Edwards didn't retain his ranking, he was removed from the rankings, he got it back after fighting Nate, not because of Nate but because he was on a 10 fight unbeaten streak including multiple ranked wins. He had to fight someone like Nate to gain enough popularity to get his title shot cause the UFC was doing everything they could to not give it to him.

No, Edwards was on a 10 fight unbeaten streak when he got his title shot. Colby doesn't even have a winning streak, and hasn't had one in 5 years, he also hasn't beaten anyone not already on a 2 fight losing streak in 5 years.

Lmao, ranked wins against who? More lightweights?

RDA? Former LW, 5-4 at WW, one win is against Kevin Lee, so .500 against actual WW.
Gunnar? Should be a LW, won’t ever have a top 15 win at WW in his career.
Cerrone? No comment needed.
Sobbotta? Can, promptly retired.
Barbarena? Entertaining, but another can and former LW.
Tumenov? Entirely one dimensional, so bad at grappling even Leon could submit him.

Leon’s ONLY good win during his streak was 2017 against Vicente Luque.

(If true[would be HUGE!!])I don't understand why the UFC would have some "under the table" agreement with Colby to give him a TS if he dropped the lawsuit against Masvidal, why would Dana care &/or intervene? He's done nothing for far more deserving fighters, and Masvidal retired anyway.

I think Leon has realized he's fucked any way he slices it. The options other than Colby are Khamzat, Shavkat, Belal, or Gilbert. Jorge retiring escalated an on paper mismatch for Leon.
If I'm Leon, out of those options I'm going for Belal if anything because they were in a fight that ended in an unfortunate situation, and kinda owe each other a fight.

Then Gilbert, as he has the weakest wrestling it seems.

Then Khaz, because I'd wager that the weight cut is getting tough for him, and hopefully he'd miss weight and that can be a built in excuse.

Then Shavkat, simply because fuck Colby, as I just don't like his forced gimmicky "persona" kayfebe(or whatever it's called) and I feel Colby hasn't deserved it.

Not only that, but doesn't Colby have brain damage(I know it seems like it whenever he does his forced persona<45>)

And Leon hasn't lost, while Colby has lost x2 to Usman, and really only beaten over the hill, out of prime fighters.

Atleast Leon TRIED to fight both Khaz & Belal, Colby seems to be running from anyone he perceives as a "bad" match up, or is relatively still in their prime.

Colby is no way deserving of a title shot even if you consider him filling in for a back up spot. Dude is losing one and winning one,
That’s fucking embarrassing.
