Leon Edwards is top 5 greatest striker in UFC history

Whomever your favorite fighter was has been beaten up with hands and feet worse than Leon unless his name is Frank. Is that facts enough for you?
Still not a “fact” because you are still making assumptions.

If you are using the standard of taking the least damage in major fights that may be true.

It's the whole package with Leon though, not really just his striking. He has developed his TD defense and hand fighting so that he can use the striking to his advantage, which has a whole lot to do with his successful MMA striking. Other strikers struggle with that.

Is that really relevant?

How many top strikers in their prime did Anderson beat?

He fought guys who punch hard like Hendo and Vitor but no real talented strikers when he was champion. The best strikers he fought was after he lost the belt in Bisping and Adesanya, and he lost to both. Doesnt matter though, he's still one of the best strikers in MMA history.

It's irrelevant. Your skill level isn't determined by how many strikers you've beaten.
Hendo and Vitor arent good strikers?
And also, are you really bringing the corpse of Silva that fought, and almost KO'd Bisping (that fight couldve stopped with that knee) and the hyped MW champ Adesanya to a competitive match?
And still say people dont know what they're watching?

Idk If it's a bad troll job or just a reeeeally bad take.

I'm a fan of Leon. My objective opinion is that Usman and now Edwards have reigned over a division that is somewhat weak while also being mismanaged by Dana. Hendricks, Condit, Lawler, Daley, Red King and Diaz's striking would've all been competitive to dominant against Leon's striking. Dana has also seemingly kept back Shavkat from a title shot. All in all, Leon needs to keep defending. He's not top 5 yet.

I would say no, top 5 UFC strikers ever in no order are; Anderson, Izzy, Jones, Aldo and Mouse

Anderson
Poatan
Aldo
Mirko
Izzy

Nah, Leon is not in there.

He was switching to orthodox against Colby to throw literally nothing. He's very balanced in his stance and is accurate but when you don't use your tools then it's hard to call him one of the greats.

It's fundamental euro kickboxing/a good clinch game. He weirdly switches stances when not needed and can't hit the gas. Holloway, volk and Aldo all come to mind instantly as far better strikers.
No. Holloway output is brilliant but he's consumed more knuckle sandwiches that the other three combined.

Leon is very good but he isn't Top 5. <36>

He got put on skates by over the hill Nate Diaz and was losing exchanges to Usman in his title fight.

Pretty wacky post by TS to call Leon a top 5 greatest striker of all time. It seems that TS just made up his own criteria and is basing it of that. It would be like me saying that that Gleison Tibau is a top 5 all time wrestler just because he's got the 2nd most TD's in mma history.

The fact you got guys like Izzy, Perreira, Wonderboy, Volkanowski, Gane, Aspinal, Holloway, Yan, Omalley, Conor, in the UFC right now pretty much already puts Leon out of the top 5 current, never mind, all time.

Recency bias is real.

Leon is a very good striker lacks finishing ability and got wobbled by Nate. Anderson Silva, Machida, Alex Pereira, Izzy, McGregor, and even Wonderboy were far more polished strikers than Leon.

Let’s get a few facts straight. To anyone that understands the fundamental rule of striking you are probably a fan of the skill of Mayweather as well. To the rest of you this will come across confusing in your newbish state. The art of fighting is NOT let’s see who has the most KO’s and that makes him the greatest striker (that’s a perk). The art of striking is not who did the most Matrix like move (although that is icing on the cake and puts asses in seats it is not the cake). The pinnacle of fighting skill is having the ability to hit your opponent without taking significant damage. PERIOD.

Leon does this as good or better than any fighter on the roster that fought at a championship level. Including your favorite fighter. Not a single fighter from Aldo to Silva to JBJ has taken less damage while having a 95% striking based style. So when you trash the man for his style just kindly keep that newb shit to a minimum. You don’t know what the hell you are talking about. Thank you very much (in my Elvis voice)

WAR LEON
“The pinnacle of fighting skill is having the ability to hit your opponent without taking significant damage. PERIOD.”
There’s more to fighting than just hitting your opponent or not being hit. Ask any fighter that uses Jiujitsu or wrestling to win.
Also, why are the the authority on what makes “the pinnacle of fighting?”
Post your resume or stfu.

And yet he could land next to nothing on Colby lol.. That Colby fight dropped his stock so much.

Now that you got that off please name any multiple defending champ with a primary striking offense that has taken less damage and wins every fight by striking. Not Silva. He took damage throughout but managed to win. Aldo took significant damage. Leon takes zero damage and wins. Nobody does THAT better

In his prime Silva absolutely fits this criteria. The problem is you want to compare Leon who is only two defenses into his title reign to guys who have been retired for 5+ years and have since regressed in skill

Let's wait a few years when Leon is 38+ and he starts getting knocked out before we compare apples to oranges

Generally speaking that is the key to all martial combat. Get in, hit your target, and get out before they can retaliate. Even in BJJ and grappling the principle is the same.
