I'm not Catholic, but I kind of like the idea of giving something up for one full month. A good exercise in self-discipline, if nothing else. I'm considering giving up alcohol for Lent. Anyone else observing Lent this year?

I returned to my religion like 2 years ago.

Last lent was my first one in a long time and i gave up redbulls.

It actually sucked way more than I thought it would and I couldn't wait for the month to end.

This one im going for cigarettes and I bet it sucks even more. I also am skeptical that I can actually do it.

Good luck, bro.

Nope. My mom’s side of the family is Catholic, but my dad’s side isn’t so we weren’t raised Catholic. If I decide to give up things for discipline reasons or whatever, I do it for that reason or some kind of betterment, not a religious ritual.

I married into a gaggle of Filipinos and eat non-meat stuffs with them on Fridays during Lent just to maintain my standing in the tribe.

What month are you supposed to do it? February is already half over, and I don't want to give up drinking in March. It has 31 days!

I'm Catholic but i'm not giving up alcohol or weed that's for sure. Think I gave up chocolate for lent once when i was a kid, could easily do that now anyway i reckon.
