Thank you. This was so cool and heartwarming. A shame he died so young and we didn't get to see what would have been.

Also, it was crazy as hell to see Rolls and Rorion like 2 or something straight rolling haha

what a legend he was. I wonder what would BJJ look like today if he was had lived until now.
 
The first minute confused the hell out me. Rorion's mother was the babysitter? Carlos gave Helio one of his kids? What the hell's going on?
 
From what I saw this is from "The Gracies and the Birth of Vale Tudo" film. Definitely my favorite section of the movie.

Helio's wife couldn't have kids. So Helio made a agreement that he would have a child with the nanny/maid but his wife would raise him. This resulted in Rorion.

Before Rorion was born, Carlos had Rolls. Carlos had a lot of kids and from what I understand he wasn't very attentive. So Carlos knowing Helio wanted a son decided to let Helio raise Rolls. I believe this was a little bit before Rorion was conceived. So Rolls was older then Rorion.

Rolls would say he had two dads, his white dad Carlos and his black dad Helio.

The gracies have a very big family and Carlos and Helio I believe had kids with different women. I dont think Rorion and Royce's mothers are the same woman, I know for sure that Rickson had a different mom then most of his brothers.

Yes, Carlos gave his son Rolls to his brother Helio to raise.

Yes, Helio couldn't have a baby with his wife, so they "agreed" that he should impregnate the babysitter. He did, and that's how Rorion was conceived.

So, actually, you weren't confused at all.

Not a bad arrangement for Helio. Shagging the wife and nanny/maid and getting everybody to agree to it. I'm pretty sure Royce and Royler collectively have a different mother as well.

I am not sure about this, but I think Rolls's mother was not the same woman carlos was living with at the time. That might have been another reason why carlos let helio raise rolls. THough I think I heard about this somewhere not sure if it is true.

Gracie's definitely had some good or uncommon arrangements for procreating.

Carlos according to some people and his biography, Carlos told one of his friends that a peruvian spirit contacted him and informed him that if he had a child with his friend's wife that child would be special. Carlos's friend believing in his spirituality said yes of course you can sleep with my wife.

I always wonder if carlos went through with it and which gracie was the result of that deal.

Rorion has 10 kids, and I doubt by all the same woman. I guess this is where he got the idea.

then again, you have people who claim that royce was only blue belt level back in UFC 1, dude had been doing bjj for at least 27 years :rolleyes: (I believe he was 28 at that time)
 
I have heard that Rolls was the result of an affair Carlos had with an italian stuartess (dont know how to spell that in english, the lady that works in the airplane). Not sure tho
