Lebron better than Bird? (i.e. rate Lebron's current legacy, v4)

Do you follow basketball? Did a friend tell you that Durant was going to win the MVP this year, and you accepted that fact prime facie as evidence that Durant is now better? One thing you'll notice about the all-time greats like Bird is that they don't shrink in the playoffs. That's why Kobetards seize on Lebron's postseason missteps with the tenacity of a rabid pack of wolves (while ignoring his overall excellence). But yeah, those 4th quarter meltdowns were real, and relevant, to judging his legacy, so you noticed Lebron made a concerted effort to rectify his 2011 performance the past two postseasons, and also this one so far. Enough rhetoric. Let's investigate today's postseason:

DURANT, 2014 Postseason
54.3% TS
29.9 points
9.6 rebounds
3.4 assists
0.9 steals
1.6 blks
4.0 turnovers
.152 Win Shares per 48min
20.9 PER
+6 ORtg/DRtg discrepancy
Team Record: 4-3 (57.1%)

LEBRON, 2014 Postseason
67.1% TS
30.0 points
8.0 rebounds
6.0 assists
2.3 steals
0.3 blocks
2.8 turnovers
.347 Win Shares per 48min
32.8 PER
+30 ORtg/DRtg discrepancy
Team Record: 4-0 (100.0%)

Certainly Durant faced a much more difficult first round opponent, especially in terms of that opponent's defense, but this has been a trend throughout his career. It doesn't look better if you look back. Palpatine has been the most vocal watchdog on the board highlighting this trend as a criticism of Durant. Also, Lebron may be in the weaker conference, but he also doesn't have an ESPNRank# Top 5 teammate; hell, he arguably doesn't have a Top 15 teammate, and if he does, it's Bosh, not Wade.

It's utterly laughable to assert than anyone in the NBA is better than Lebron right now.

Grizzlies > Boobcans. Cmon Mick... We all know LeBron is the overall better player than Durant, I mean, rings? Hello? But Miami this year by far has the easiest road (maybe ever?) to the title.

Mick with p4p the most disingenuous comparison of all time.

Grizzlies vs the fking Bobcats. SMMFH.

You are right, LeBron had a better round against the Boobcans than Durant did vs the Grizz.

A team that has gone 106-58 over the last two seasons compared to a team that has gone 64-100. Fair comparisson bro.

Why don't we just compare LeJuice's stats vs 20 win teams vs Durants stats vs 50 win teams while we are at it.

Considering Michael Jordan is widely regarded as "the LeBron James of the 90s," I'd say Bird has a ways to go before he catches up to Lebron. It's possible if Bird can raise his overall numbers; I just don't see it happening personally

Jordan picked bird to be on his all time team over bron. End discussion

Like that means anything. Jordan picked Adam Morrison third overall

McBobcans were the 6th best defense this season

Grizz were tied for 7th

One team won 50 games the other won 43. Also, Fat Gasol missed a ton of games otherwise their record and defensive rating would have been better.

So much science being dropped in one thread

The stats you offered up are E-league stats.

BrokenCan's rec league team could put up similar defensive numbers in the Leastern conference to the Boobcans.

BRB trying to stop Orlando, Boston, Brookcan, Philly Cheesetankers, and the Bucks offense.

BRB playing defense in a conference against OKC, Spurs, Houston, GSW, Clippers.

Memphis would be a 2 or 3 seed in the East and make it to the ECF. In the West, they are a first round out against OKC.

Also just saw GSW's defensive efficiency and spot on that list. Da fuq?

DWS, DRTG, DEF EFF have all been brutally/elegantly debunked by me in MULTIPLE THREADS. Surprised somebody (same person who does it every time) actually brought one of them up again, it's no coincidence that nobody ever brings those stats up anymore.

Drtg/Dws/Def eff are pseudo-stats and shouldn't be taken seriously.

Garnett Gif'd, let me get you a towel for your hair bro.

they were really good defensively this year. Bogut was a monster in the middle. we would have been WCF favorites if we'd had Bogut in the playoffs
