Lebron better than Bird? (i.e. rate Lebron's current legacy, v4)

He has started in pf and sf. So you have to put him in both, not . pick the one he isn't playing this week

Mj left to try his hand at baseball.

I understand that.

I just thought it was funny that instead of putting MLB/minor Leagues, they put the record of a basketball team that consisted of MJ, Charles Barkley, Mugsy Bogues, Bill Murray, and the Looney Tunes, against juiced up, evil space aliens.

Mj left to try his hand at baseball. Comparing their careers is weird. Could lebron have a better career? Sure. That's possible. Is he a better player? Fuck no. Bron is not on the list of people I'd pick for an all time team, not even on the bench. He's not the best at his position now. Love has twice as many rebounds per game and that's what I expect from that position. Durant is better. Melo could be better on the right team. Bron is good and he's fun to watch. If you are putting him anywhere on an all time list you're too young to have seen the greats play outside of youtube.

You are completely right, who would need LolBron on a all time team? He sure as hell isn't carrying the ball up and down the court, that would go to Magic/Stockton 85% of the time, the rest would go to Kobe/MJ. He's a good all around guy, extreme athleticism, but he's just not needed. If he was maybe 7'1, then maybe we'd fit him in the conversation, but as it stands right now, I don't even know if he makes the all time NBA B team's bench.

You're right, Bird isn't in the same stratosphere as LolBron. Bird is above and beyond LolBron and it isn't close at this point. We'll see in 2-3 years.

There's nothing but nostalgia to support this position. Berns prime is already as long as birds was.

So you guys actually think Bird, Magic, Jordan would've shat all over the cities that were bending over backwards for them, tuck-tail and run to an already loaded team? Clearly the mark of a great leader.

Bird and Magic got put on loaded teams and historically great franchises. Bird and Magic didn't make the Lakers. The only reason why Magic came out of college is because the lakers had the first pick and Kareem. Magic admitted to this before. Jordan is the only guy that stuck with his team through a rebuild, and it paid off, so I'll give you that.

Anyway though, this thread is a joke. I'm far from being a LeBron fan, and I hate his game, from an aesthetic standpoint, but he's already the best SF of all time.

I'm not denying that Bird and Magic walked into great situations. But I am postulating that in the same shoes, they wouldn't have ran to an arch-rival's team if a title didnt come to fruition in the first 5 years. And doing so in a disrespectful manner to the city that had put you on a pedestal from day one, I might add. I'm not claiming Bron isn't great; that much is obvious. But he clearly isn't the caliber of leader that a Bird, Magic, Jordan, Kobe, etc are.

Not even close. He still has time but bird played against all those named on your all time greatest list. Who the hell does bron play that's on that list? If it hadn't been for Jordan and magic and everyone else where would he be? Look at lebron. His team plays the....who? During the year nobody. Playoffs? Still nobody really. NBA is in a huge lull. That's why they're billing lebron as mj junior. To sell seats and jerseys perhaps? In this era the physical player is babied to let them score. In the 80s you got the shit kicked out of you. Bird averaged a fucking double double during this era as a sf. Come on. This really isn't competitive. He's the best for a reason. All their other stats are identical. Blocks steals etc... even. So how is he better at any of this things? Espn highlights altering opinions perhaps?

The one true GOAT stayed with his team through a TRUE rebuild. LeJuice tucked tail and ran to another superstar's team LMAOOO

Lol so name the 20-30 guys that are better.
The haters are so consumed by venom they cant even think.

And he is with his team right now. In a period of not rebuilding, but a period of excrement eating. A crisis hecreated.

Here is the unpopular opinion:

Prime v prime, they are 1a and 1b....

a little off topic, but lebron said in an interview after mcroberts hard foul that "this isnt the 80's. if it happened then, i woulda got up and started swinging."

what he forgot to add was "now it's the 10's and we just flop everytime we miss a basket or someone looks at us wrong."

my god, how can you be that big and buff of an athlete and still come off like a complete and total pussy. i would be embarrassed to flop like that all the time

The game today is a lot faster and the level is higher than in the 80s.
Pretty much every sport is like that really.
Dreamers and people that cant accept reality pretend that 30 yrs ago the level was better lol gtfo.
Would Wilt Chamberlain be as dominant today as he was back in the day? lol

Then again people have been praising the past over the present since the ancient world.

i am not saying anything about the past being better. but what WAS better was that for the most part, people didnt flop like bitches all the time. i cant watch the heat because watching lebron and wade act like they just got killed every time they shoot drives me crazy.

1) Lmao, no he wouldn't. The only time he nearly came to blows on the court was when he accosted his own teammate Chalmers. (I'm sure there's been others due to roid rage)

2) His nickname amongst most hoops experts/analysts/SBSC members is LePharm/LeRoid/LeJuice for a reason.

Yeah yeah people didnt flop. In soccer people didnt flop that much in the 80s and in the 60s nobody did. Still a first class team today would beat the best teams of 35 yrs ago 20-0.
In American football the 0-Lines of the 70s wouldnt keep today's 285 lbs guys that can run 40 yds in less than 4.5 seconds from murdering the quarterback.
Reality is cold, but it is still reality. If you feel romantic go watch a chick flick.

i am not a regular in this forum, but are you the sports bar troll guy? or is it just your time of the month?

Lebron would shit all over Bird. Bird wouldnt keep Lebron from getting to the basket and Bird would be kept below his average every single game. But its not just Lebron. Melo would dribble around poor old Bird. Durant would shoot in front of his face all night long and Grifflin would dunk over his head until he starts crying.
The game today is just on a different level.
If you clowns wanna have a discussion discuss dominance and numbers but that is still a dead end.

These discussions are useless because people dont like to accept that today's game is better. Maybe not as entertaining (for you), but better. In basketball, football, you name it. You guys cant accept reality, like old people talk about the "good ol days" when today's world is better than 20 yrs ago and 50 yrs ago was better than 50 yrs ago and so on.

Advances in training, nutrition, PED's, specializing at earlier ages, pulling from larger population pool, and being able to learn from the work of earlier generations, has created (on avg) bigger, stronger, faster, and more skilled athletes at a given position pretty much across the table. None of that explains why Lebron excessively flops, cries to the refs when doesn't get the whistle, etc. If anything, his physical superiority and MVP-level status would dictate otherwise.
