Lebron better than Bird? (i.e. rate Lebron's current legacy, v4)

Bird would shoot over Lebron all day and then celebrate with a cigar and Bron Bron's bitch.

Sure, Per alone isn't the only statistic but it's a helpful tool when evaluating players.

Only when used in combination with numerous other stats, which you have posted none of. It should also be properly understood, which you don't. You've only attempted (and failed miserably) to make some kind of case with the backbone being PER.

Robinson is 4th on your All-Time PER list, but he is nowhere near the 4th best player of All-Time, nowhere near. A case can't even be made for him being a top 15 player. Then you have CP3 6th... he may not even be top 50. That right there, should show you how seriously you should be taking PER alone.

Do you know who was 3rd in PER this year after Durant and Bern... Kevin Love; the guy isn't even the best player at his position.

The fact is, there isn't much data that would even suggest Bird was in the same stratosphere as Lebron. That's the truth.

That's not what you and I were discussing.

We were discussing Larry being one of the top players in the league throughout his career, and also the arguable best in the league, which he also was, or did you forget the nonsense that you got called out on?

Now since you like stats, try to prove that Prime Larry was not the arguably best player (top 3 at least) in the league using at minimum, 8 advanced stats, including PER. Otherwise, crawl back into the hole that you came out from.

Did we not establish that going by PER alone to rate players is absurd? Especially on just career PER. You can't be this dense. You saying Robinson is the 4th greatest player of All-Time? CP3 is the 6th? Petit is the 7th? Etc?

My god. Besmirched on a disgusting level.

Robinson is one of the greatest pf/c ever but not top tier
He's top tier. Just because you're third fiddle to Patrick Ewing and Hakeem Olajuwon doesn't mean that you're not top tier.

Tier 1: Snaq, Dream, Wilt, KAJ
Tier 2: Ewing, Robinson

Rec League/LMAO Tier: Bill Russell

Eat shit and live Tier: Slight Coward

Well that's what I meant. If you were making a team would you take him first. He was excellent though

Cool, he was the "best player" in two years, I said I was wrong. The thread is about the perverse idea he is a better player than Lebron which is entirely incorrect.

Magic was a better player, Hakeem was a better player, Jordan was better. Bird is an all time Great, Lebron would wreck him in any era.

You should have led with this. There is a strong debate on both sides. I've said for a while now that Lebron will be the greatest SF in history when all is said and done- barring some unforeseen career-ending injury first.

Will be perhaps nut he isn't now and he's more of a pf

You're right, Bird isn't in the same stratosphere as LolBron. Bird is above and beyond LolBron and it isn't close at this point. We'll see in 2-3 years.

If lebron isn't in the same stratosphere as bird why do we only have to wait 2-3 years to see if he comes close? Such a short time says he's already at his doorstep.

Bird made players around him better, he made the celtics a dynasty. lebron had to go and form one with bosh and wade, who were already superstars. is lebron making anyone on the heat better, the way bird made mchale, ainge and parrish better?

McHale was at his best after Bird's peak had passed

Wade and Bish have been playing at a career-best efficiency ever since joining Bern

I always laugh when people use the argument that lebron left to join another team. Something that magic and bird would have never done. Of course they wouldn't. Their teams were loaded with some of the greatest players of all time and in that era. I guess lebron should have stuck around to play with Larry Hughes, Daniel Gibson and Drew Goode.

These same amateur pseudoexperts also forget that the Celtics did the whole big 3 thing two years prior to Bern going to Miami

I guess it's worse to leave when you're able to then to demand a trade.
