It's a good question for sure. Not sure what type of leather it is though?

Anyone have any input?
 
Those shorts must weigh like 5lbs a piece. Jesus.
 
I'd never really noticed them before, but they are pretty sweet.

No idea who could make them for you though or how comfortable they would be or even how expensive.

They'd be pretty unique, definately would turn a few heads.

Interested to see if you can find some!
 
weren't his trunks vs. Judah ostrich skin or something as well?

I remember in one of his fights the commentators made note of his leather trunks and voiced similar concerns to those in this thread

The cowhide they use to make fighting trunks aren't the same thickness as ones they use for leather jackets.



Leather can be as light as cloth (see leather chamoise used for washing cars) and just as flexible/durable.

If heat were a real issue with leather shorts, I can't imagine fighters tolerating those heavily padded (read insulated) groin protectors.
 
I guess the goat skin leather isn't as thick. So, maybe if zepol decides to take the job, goat skin would be my choice. Unless you guys know of an even thinner leather

Great post! Interesting information. The chamoise cloth is a good example.
 
just got the word from Juan, that zepol don't make boxing trunks at all, but he is still trying to find out who does leather trunks.

Floyd Mayweather wore one when he fought my coach and he nearly had a panic attack because of it.

Leather gets slick , clingy and heavy when wet and it's a bitch to move around in.
You'll also smell like old feet and ass.
You ever put shoes on with no socks and left it on for a day ?
How does it feel ? What about the smell.
Imagine that but all over plus on your crotch.

Knew a guy who'd wear leather pants all the time.
Stunk so bad I just wanted to hit him . Can't imagine how'd it be if a guy works out in them !
Plus how you're going to clean them.....dry clean them every day ?

He uses leatherette now and mostly just as trim and / or as outside panels.
When u make 40 million a fight you can get shit done like that.

Flubs like us......get it made by spending a few hundred (easy) ....... Doesn't fit and / or leather in wrong places / bulky / stitching........spend more hundreds to get another pair.
Repeat ad nauseum.
 
Try Susie Wong online if your insistent.
A legit maker of shorts for pros.

Still very foolish if just for gym.
