you most likely have organic matter in the soil that is breaking down (like sticks or logs.) those are the fruits of the fungi. you can dig it out and replace with new soil.

Lovely. I used Scott starter soil which has mulch and the like mixed in. I'd have to dig up the entire yard.
 
I hate lawns, im selling my house this week and if I can help, will never maintain a lawn again. It's just become a huge waste of time and money. Going lawnless next time, but good luck with your Lawn TS.. I here some people really enjoy lawn maintenance, just not me.

You should post pictures of the mushroom situation so we can actually make an accurate assessment.
 
Does anyone know what that light green seed/mulch looking stuff that contractors use after they finish at a construction site. Stuff grows fast as hell
 
hydro seed. the green comes from the liquid that the seed is in so it sprays and sticks. normally the use Perennial RyeGrass or something similar that germinates quickly, 4-7 days.
