Lauzon's prediction was dead on

For some reason, I just assumed Conor had great cardio. Never seen him tired and just assumed he could keep it up for 5 rounds.
Then Lauzon comes out and says that Conor might have some Cardio problems. Definitely going to pay attention to his predictions more often.

It wasn't the weight that caused him to gas out. It was head hunting and slugging it out with a Diaz brother. Everyone who tries that against them ends up gassing and panic wrestling.

Yeah, Lauzon was absolutely dead on with everything. I think most people knew Conor is all smoke and mirrors already, and his major weapon is his straight left- but what most people probably missed than Joe picked up on is that Nate knows exactly how to deal with that left. His reach and boxing ability means that Conor is going to struggle with that. And I have no idea why anyone thought Conor was going to have better cardio than a Diaz brother- even a short camp Diaz brother. Their cardio is absolutely off the charts, and Conor has never really demonstrated good cardio yet.

All he predicted was Nate Diaz and that Conor had little cardio. He didnt predict Diaz by sub or within 2 rounds. Not exactly dead on but still props to Joe.

Conor's cardio was likely on point. Nobody on the planet can throw full power shots for 7+ minutes and not get tired. The problem came when he was convincing himself that one of those shots would hurt Diaz, so he kept up his power with each and every strike he was throwing. Nobody can keep that pace, even keeping it for 7-8 minutes was impressive. Foolish, but impressive.

He has Kenny Florian instructing him what to say via earpiece.

Joe is one of the smartest fighters in the ufc.

Always listen to him.

The reason why Nate could "deal" with the left is because of his chin. Its not like he was slipping punches beautifully and bobbing and weaving, he just absorbed them because he's blessed by the chin gods. Its not like he had some perfect technique to counter the left-hand.

There's much more to it than that. Nate and Nick both stand at a distance where opponents with shorter reaches have to reach outside their power to connect, both are usually moving away before they get hit and both roll punches because they rarely get caught outside their arc of vision. There's actually a lot of skill in having a good chin aside from just genetics.

nate was out boxing conor easily. it wasnt until conor got reckless he could actually do something. he did land at the begining of round to but that was his undoing anyhow. Diaz handled him very well as far as exchanging punches gos.

Man this is awesome. I will definitely be paying much closer attention to Lauzon before big fights in the future. Thanks for sharing TS.

conner was missing a lot in round one. he was reaching a lot and coming up short.

he landed a lot more clean punches in round 2, but they clearly were not as fast and hard. DIaz has a great chin, but he has been hurt, and dropped before. at no point did he look like he was affect by anything conner hit him with.

I found cardio thing to be pretty impressive because Conor had a full camp and has never shown to be tired in a fight.

Watch the fight again.

Been saying the smoke and mirrors stuff and that all Conor is really great at is his left hand, and thought Nate would win. Definitely didn't think Conor would gas like that.

Strikers that bang with the Diazs' always gas. They have good chins but they can take/evade punches because of their footwork.

I called this fight too but by 3rd round sub - me and J Lo are psychics.

The extra muscle obviously doesn't help.
