Maybe when I was in my early 20s, in a half-full movie theater, sitting far away from anyone else. Not as a 36 year old member of Congress, in a filled-to-capacity theater.

There does need to be discussions with kids that sexual exploration (of their own bodies) is a completely normal thing growing up, and kids also need to be taught what is/isn't inappropriate touching both as a means to prevent sexual assault and so they don't feel like they are weird/bad/evil for doing things that all kids do at some point. How retarded is it that any teenager who admits that they jerk off would get made fun of mercilessly and become a social pariah by other teens who 100% without question do it themselves? This is a social stigma that shouldn't exist and certainly a problem that is easily solved by sex education. How this is addressed (and at what age) are not easy questions to answer, as the youngest children are the most vulnerable to predation/influence, but its easy for detractors to just make it seem like any discussion (well meaning or otherwise) is unnecessarily exposing children to sex at too young an age... and some parents don't want to expose their kids to things and in turn unintentionally leave them more vulnerable to the very thing they believe they are protecting them from.

I agree with much of this. I don't however think "everyone on the right" holds the view that all leftists support the most extreme aspects. I do think there's a general feeling that many sane leftists may stay quiet in the face of it in order to not upset certain groups.

I think the arguments often boil down to many on the right seeing more and more "one off" extremes as cumulatively adding up to more than "uncommon fringe stuff". (IE the German daycares). While many on the left see those as exactly that: extreme outliers that give no indication of any direction that society may be headed.

The trans issue has issues within it that are great examples of this. Women's sports, prisons, etc. "Who cares, it affects very few people" is something I commonly see. Some on the left sees these as lighting rod issues that the right uses to demonize trans people. Many on the right see them as potential harbingers for more societal changes. Personally, I think people should be able to live how they want. We shouldn't alter every societal norm to cater to it though. There's a common ground between showing someone courtesy, acknowledging them as a fellow citizen with rights, but also not changing norms that have been in place for a reason just to cater to them.

Teens and masterbation...I agree fully. But yeah, continuing to push the age younger and younger in which kids get "educated" on this is lunacy. Sex ed for teens? Sure. Young kids? Fuck no.

Germany...but looks like there are attempts in some places to do exactly what supposedly "isn't happening". People having their hackles up about it isn't because of a non-existent threat. It's to stop the envelope from being nudged in more places to where these politicians and admin people in Germany seemed to think it should be pushed. These weren't random fringe nutjobs on Twitter. These were people in positions of power enough to actually institute these rooms in a fucking KINDERGARTEN.
