The right gets pissed because AOC is the only dem that works the media like your leading republicans do. Most of the dems are too nice and proper to rub a republican's face in shit in the media. It doesn't help get cross the aisle legislation through because it creates animosity but it rallies your base and voters so it works for getting elected and dems didn't start this style of working the media. Conservatives have been drama queens going back to the commie scare in the 50s. The world would have ended a billion times already if you went by their proclaims. Republicans hate AOC because of how effectively she rallies democrats, is a women so it looks bad to all women when they try to smear her, and she connects strongly with younger voters, a portion of the voter pool that republicans are losing badly in.

Republicans are so out of touch with younger voters that they couldn't understand that making fun of that college promo video with AOC in it dancing was pretty dumb and sexist and turned off young voters in droves. AOC doesn't really have to do much to rally younger voters other than just pointing out what stupid republicans say. If republicans got on their own members when they said stupid shit, they wouldn't have the stink of a party out of touch with young voters. Young voters don't give a shit about church, your platform to end abortion, anti-drug laws, blocking tuition aid, socially conservative values, anti-lgbt nonsense, and tax rates for the wealthy. It is like they are intentionally ignoring what will become the base.

What you perceive as hypocrisy is just the response that should be expected when a member of the party of "family values" can't be bothered to be for family values and the party won't clean house over poor behavior. If republicans weren't always playing the "but the children" card on every occasion, you would not get quite the backlash.
