Only weirdos really cared about her being there.
Yup

Overall, she did an above average job. I actually felt she did better for her first PPV assignment than she has in the past. She's clear, doesn't go off on tangents (like DC chuckling about how when the crowd was chanting that one fighter's name it sounded like "Goldberg"), and generally knows what's going on. She's still a little stiff at times, and can struggle with gracefully ending thoughts (either cutting off too early or going on a touch too long when it's clear she's said everything she has to say). She'll also use terms that sound jarring coming from an otherwise professional delivery, like when she said a fighter was getting "bodied" - something I'd expect to hear from a Twitch streamer, not a professional sports commentator.

But, Sanko certainly fit in and performed well, and I didn't get the sense that she was in over her head or was only given the job because of her gender or other connections. I'd have no issue with her continuing to replace Rogan.

She was everything I feared in that she never shut the fuck up.

Your job isn't to talk literally all the time.

Anyway I'd say overall she does a good job. I've been impressed with the level of tape study and prep she does, which I think only Cruz can compare with really. Even when she does Road to UFC she knows her shit about the fight styles of obscure Indian fighters.

Agreed.

I rated her an 8. It was that or a 7.

Reasons why:
  • She blends in with her booth partners, i.e. flows with the conversation
  • She adds in enough useful color without distracting from the fight
  • She has enough knowledge about fighting (she was a former pro, still trains all disciplines) to make relevant comments, but without the associated ego which sometimes results in booth bickering
I think some fans can't get over the fact that she's female and/or attractive. Objectively, she's a good commentator. Whether or not she's attractive to me is irrelevant, I'm watching the fight anyway.

Very good. I never thought I'd say this about a woman but I almost wish she would be more emotional. She's almost too technical which is great but can be kind of dry.

Her delivery is definitely better suited for play-by-play than color commentary, but of course there's no way they're replacing Anik (who is excellent).

She has a very nice voice and articulate and sounds intelligent, but I like listening to commentaries from people who are actually experts in MMA and can learn things from, which she ain't.

It's like NBA plugging Doris or whatever her name is into NBA play off commentary. But it's the times we live in.

Political correctness and appealing to masses for their bottom line are what it's all about.

I'd give her 3, only because she speaks well.

But hey, it's better than MLB plugging softball players into coaching gigs and commentaries.

I'd disagree Normally i hate PC ramming shit down on our throat in movies Tv gaming etc but i was actually surprised how knowledgeable she was when she recognized and mentioned Israel having trouble the Philly Shell guard and saying its a boxing thing that you must prepare for specifically or you cant beat it. And she figured it out before DC. One big issue with her is that she abruptly/awkwardly ends whereas a good commentator would link it so that the other one could chime in. I would say its opposite you what you said. She cant speak well for a color commentator but is actually very knowledgeable as she was once an actual fighter not some model/ personality that is common with a lot of other sports ladies in commentary.

She's a weaker version of Anik. Aside from that, I prefer to avoid WMMA and women commentary in MMA for the most part.

Also, now that I think about it, I usually try to avoid the English commentary in general as it has been quite bad in the past. Listened this time because I wanted to hear how they react to Strickland vs Izzy.
Anik isn't a color commentator.

she didn't speak very frequently ... She'd be non-existent for long stretches, and then suddenly say something more practical or smarter than anything DC said all night.
She was everything I feared in that she never shut the fuck up.

Well jeez, now I don't know what to believe

Remove her. If she wasn't attractive we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

The 3 of them should never work together again. It was difficult to listen.

Me. Qays went full retard.

Laura spoke all the time. She never shut the fuck up and just let the moments play out, and always responded any time DC or Anik said something instead of just letting their commentaries stand.

Commentary is supposed to compliment the action. Not distract from it.

Rate her a Sherdog nickel in booth
A Sherdog dime in the streets

I think some people questioning the expertise or accomplishments of other commentators are overlooking the basics of what makes a commentator good. Results.

If you can see what's going on in the fight in a deeper and broader way than the average consumer and articulate that and inform them, then you're a great commentator in my book. Fighters, in general well always be able to explain why a fighter is doing something a certain way or moving in a certain direction because they actually did that. But you don't need to be a fighter to know the "Whys" of things.

Let's not forget the Cruz debacle of telling everyone that Conor was exhausting Khabib on the ground. Everyone has off nights, everyone makes mistakes and say the dumbest crap sometimes. But at the end of the day, if they can inform, entertain and commentate fights well, I don't see why we need to try and question their credentials.

I would rate it -1000 if I could.

honestly, i don't want a smoking hot chick to distract me from watching fights. She's too hot to have on as a regular.
