Last night's main event was 5 rounds of this:

Khamzat clearly tried for finishes. Almost had several RNCs locked up. Strickland literally does not try for a finish unless the opponent is tired.
Looks more like Khamzat tried to finish on him tbh.

The reality: 6 finishes in 9 fights in the UFC, 5 in the first round, his other two decision wins in the UFC were largely stand up fights, and one of them was a FOTY contender.
Khamzat has never stood with anyone good and had success. His best performance in this regard was his fights with Meerschaert, who sucks, and Burns, who's a former lightweight and was 36 years old at the time.

Love this win!

People complained so much about lay n pray, that the UFC started giving every advantage to strikers. Fast tracking them to title shots, or making it clear to fighters that the company will reward brawling.

We wound up with entire divisions that didn't have any elite wrestlers.

It started to feel fixed.

So yeah it wasn't the most exciting fight but it was way better than Randleman vs Bas, or Fitch vs anyone.

And it makes the sport feel legit again.
