I think the Hippo.

As tough as bears are, Hippos are like Colossus from X-Men, they're very difficult to hurt. I've seen a video of adult lions jumping on a hippos back, trying to hurt it and the just couldn't.

On the flipside, a hippos mouth is like a bear trap (no pun intended), anything they clamp down on is getting seriously injured or killed... and it is only a matter of time before it chomps down on the bears.

i just saw a video of a hippo being attacked by 30 lions. the lions couldn't even make the hippo bleed with their 5 inch claws. i had no idea hippos are basically tanks. i didn't know they were impervious to lions. i guess the question is...

can the bears take the hippo's back? if a lion can do it i think a bear can. bears are extremely agile for their size. the hippo is fast as fuck but it can't exactly grip anything. 2 bears i think one can take the back and fuck it up. 1 bear has next to no chance vs a hippo, but bears are extremely smart. i think one bear can face off with the hippo while the other goes around and takes the back.

can a grizzly make a hippo bleed? idk. but science should find out asap. if it can penetrate the hippo's skin i think it can win. but again, if an adult lion can't, i really dont know. this is where scientists need to enter the chat

Bears punch above their weight and the damage they can do to a Hippos skin is a lot with the claws. A typical bear front face assault will be unlikely to work given the Hippos giant teeth and thick neck but bears are agile and would take the back and bear claws are huge and sharp.

2 bears would be too much and inflict a lot of blood loss damage on the Hippo is my guess even if the Hippo weighs 10000lbs

Hippos are faster than bears and no way a bear can get on a hippos back and hang on and slash with its claws. Also that isn’t how bears attack so you are giving them attributes they don’t possess

Yeah, hippos are just on a whole nother level. Truly terrifying and powerful animals. Only animal I would say might be it’s equal would be a bull elephant.

and with such a size difference the hippo could also stomp the crap out of a grizzly. there is just no way the grizzly has a chance. and they dont hunt in packs so any thoughts of two ganging up is fantasy.

5,000 lb isn't even as large as they get. The largest recorded male hippo weighed almost 10,000 lb, and even in the wild the largest males are upwards of 7,000 lb.

Considering that even relatively small female hippos can fight off an entire pride of lions most of the time without significant injury, I'd say a big male wouldn't have much problem with a couple huge bears. Grizzlies very rarely will even attempt to prey on a healthy bull moose, and hippos are more than 5x larger than that, with significantly stronger armor and attacks.

One thing to keep in mind is that grizzlies are built to fight animals the size of grizzlies (other grizzlies). Hippos are built to fight animals the size of hippos (other hippos).

Hippo wins easily.

All of this, PLUS if you follow the fat bear competition it's quite evident that a 1400+ lb grizzly is obese as fuck and they only weigh that much at peak fatness in the fall when prepping for winter hibernation. They're skinny at 900 lbs and so fat their bellies touch the ground at 1400 lbs.

So a 7,000 lb angry male hippo vs two grizzlies at ~1200 lbs each? Weight classes matter.

White rhinos are absolute tanks as well and I would rank them 3 or 2B after the elephant. Their eyesight is trash, but holy shit when they get a bead on you there's nothing for it. You're just turbo-fucked. There are videos of rhinos fighting cape buffalo on YouTube and even though the buffalo probably weigh 1500+ lb the rhinos just steamroll them without suffering a scratch. This is an animal that can easily lift 2000 lb using nothing but its neck muscles.

I saw another video years ago of a zebra getting too close to a rhino in an enclosure and the rhino just picked it up with its horn and fucking ragdolled it 10 feet in the air repeatedly.

And as difficult as it is to damage a hippo, it's damn near impossible to damage a rhino. Its hide is just ridiculously strong.

But rhinos and hippos have nothing on elephants. Elephants will fuck rhinos and hippos up, and turn every other animal into a tube of toothpaste.

When I first started posting here we had a huge animal octagon tournament. I forgot who won, but I know there was some stupid matchup of a killer whale vs an elephant or something where half the arena was in water and the other half on land. lol...

considering their lenght and weight they have decent agility while at it

If we speak about land animals elephants as soon the pass some size/weight are in a league on their own, nothing come close to them, not even rhinos and hippos... reality is on average male elephant weight like rhino AND hippo combined

Nothing fuck with hippo except for male elephant. Elephants go through this phase where they get really pissy. I think it might be monthly or few times a year
