Lanchana Green's weekly TUF 23 blog for Fighters Only will appear every week following the latest episode of The Ultimate Fighter.
Excerpts:
"With three weeks until potentially flying out I focused purely on honing my strength – my striking – whilst also increasing my fitness. As I don't cut any weight to hit 115lb, I knew some of the girls would be bigger coming into the fights. So my plan was be quicker, fitter and, ultimately, to be able to hit them more times than they could hit me."
"On Friday 22nd January I flew back out to Vegas to board The Ultimate Fighter rollercoaster. Seeing the other girls in their sweat suits, running and cutting weight whilst I could keep sharpening my skill-set made me so glad I didn't have to go through what they were."
Round 1
"Okay, so the first round didn't quite go to plan! Takedown defence went completely out the window and I was on the canvas pretty quickly. However, I remained calm and tried to take as little damage as possible without panicking and making mistakes. Ashley spent the full round in top position and sunk a rear naked choke in towards the end of the round. All I could think was how much I didn't want to get back on that plane and go home. I fought through gritted teeth on minimal oxygen until the buzzer went."
Round 2
"I knew I was badly down on the scorecards, and even if I'd had had the better in this round it would have gone to a third, so I switched on, and went for the finish. I simply refused to get taken down and tried to land some strikes. I managed to land a knee to Ashley's mid section, which stopped her for a second. I knew I had to capitalise, so I started smashing in as many knees as I could! She was tough, the ref was in my peripheral but he wasn't stopping the fight. then I heard Wil' shouting to attack the head and I kept punching until the referee finally called an end to the bout."
