I remember some clown tries to argue with me that Trump is a libertarian....

I could never imagine a libertarian sticking his hand in the market like this...

http://thehill.com/homenews/adminis...impose-total-ban-on-luxury-german-cars-report

In 2017, German automakers assembled 804,000 cars in US plants, exporting another 657,000 to North America, according to the VDA industry association.

Great! Let's kill thousands of jobs here in the U.S.!! That'll show those Germans!!!

MAGA

He's saving Americans cash. You ever try and repair those things? I had a power seat motor go on a Mercedes was $1700. Every 6mo costs me about $400 just for service.

Fuck german cars. Will never buy another

Ts has obviously never owned a Bavarian Made Auto.

We get raped here in the states in parts and service charges, while them same cars get treated like honda civic del sol's in Europe.

THAT SHIT AINT RIGHT!

And fuck how their hoods open too, gon head and try to change a the fans see what happens. Bet money you yoke the hood forward in rage, cause you find the engineering to be illogical.

TS is not painting the whole picture.

17 million cars sold in the USA in 2016.
12 million of them were produced in the USA.

That means 5 MILLION WERE IMPORTED (and that's a very modest estimate).

So compare losing a few jobs that work in US based German car plants (about 15% of the imported cars) to losing A THIRD OF MARKET SHARE to foreigners --- and you start to see the big picture.

There is also no proof that this story is true. But anyway.

This kind of stuff is political gossip.

And all according to some geran magazine "exclusive"

He does plenty of whacky shit we can confirm, no point in going after him over some heresay

Trump is a libertarian in all of the bad ways (disdain for workers, fetishization of wealth, simplistic understanding of economics, etc.) and in none of the good ways (scrutinizing of state power, criticism of military spending and activity, respect for individual rights).

He's basically a composite of the worst qualities of all political ideologies, topped with the hair of a muppet.

With that said, at least with these narrow acts of economic nationalism, he's actually doing his own thing, as opposed to adopting the Republican Party's policies hook, line, and trickle-down.

Are you Elon Musk in secret? You always talk like you're super successful or something. I don't get it? Where does this arrogance come from?

I've had 3 German cars in a row and I haven't had issues like that.

My current car is a 5 year old BMW and I havent had a single issue with it yet... I'm the original owner

You think it requires arrogance to be critical or dismissive of Trump's policies and apparent ideology? I think one would have to be very dim-witted, if they do care about policy and apply themselves toward understanding it, to not be critical of them/him.

Anywho, no, I am not 'ol Musky. In fact, I took quite the tongue lashing for disparaging Musk last week as being a self-promoting pud.

I like how no one is suggesting that american auto makers try to make better cars that attract people.. the answer is to give consumers LESS options!

I know someone who bought a high end Jeep like 2 months after I bought my BMW and within 6 months he had it in the shop for radiator issues. Another guy I know has a 2 year old Chevy that is constantly overheating..

JUST SAYIN

Trump comes off a lot smarter than you. That's how it looks.

lol. Well, I'm afraid that's a reflection of you, not Trump or myself.

Also, I think you come off smarter than Trump. And I don't think you come off as very intelligent at all.

“impose a total ban on the imports of German luxury cars“

Wonder why you left off the first sentence or two

To be fair Trump ran on a fairly protectionist platform during his run so this is not that surprising. His voters probably expected something like this, if anything they might have expected more.

Musk's popularity kind of bothers me, almost like people are looking for a philosopher billionaire to solve our problems and he's one of the prime candidates. Not saying he hasn't earned it on some level or that we shouldn't give him credit where its due. Idk, just irks me a bit.

Well let's keep in mind, as... frustrating... as Trump can be, he usually, in by the book fashion, throws out an extreme idea and then negotiates back to the center.

That's his style, his biggest strategy, and almost his meaning in life. The art of hyperbole to reach a compromise.

Noting this, I think he is a poor negotiator at this point, because he usually does not have that understanding or intellect to work out a winning deal, and often falls for the first offer.

Brother, I hope you are mechanically inclined... Shit may seem sweet right now, but just wait.

You are going to need to replace something small but important and thats when it will happen.

Isnt that literally the president at this point?

better cars? like Ford or GM lol?

we are lost to the cheap, efficient and reliable Hondas, Toyotas, Subarus and Nissans for decades to come. American cars are more comfy and that's about it.

Cant forget Korean made cars... Hyundai stepped their game up around 01 when they came out with the 100,000 mile warranty and stuck to it. May not be shit to look at, but when you are buying a 13k car you kinda expect that.
