Lack of elite boxer at ww history

Masvidal is a much better boxer than Diaz, Diaz has great volume, moves with punches, a solid 1-2 and that's about it. Masvidal has much better defense, knock out power, mixes up shots, can throw volume, better footwork.

I agree Masvidal is technically better, but Nick had a mixture of volume, endless cardio and sheer toughness that was hard to beat...unless you're a wrestler or a very sound diverse striker who uses leg kicks. Prime vs. prime, Jorge vs. Nick would've been a great fight...definitely better than Mas vs. Nate.

Good shout especially for Lytle.
I agree on Lytle.

But no love for Ben Askren? How many other WWs are willing to face the Youtube open weight boxing champ?

Is this like that time you were taking a shit all over Poirier and said prime Gomi would annihilate him, then after Poirier beat the snot out of Conor you made a thread saying you were so dead wrong about Poirier

Where does this Gomi myth come from? Do people not know both Penn and Nick Diaz finished him when he was in his prime in his 20s? Good fighter? Yes. Against someone like current Poirier or Gaethje? He'd get smashed.

We had great boxers in heavyweight like JDS, Fedor, Arlovski, Sergei, Alex and so on.
We had great boxers in lightheavyweight like Gus, Lil Nog, and so on.
We had great boxers in middleweight like Android, Mousasi, Vitor and so on.
We had great boxers in lightweight like Conor, Gomi, BJ, and so on.
We had great boxers in featherweight like Holloway, and so on.
We had great boxers in bantamweight like Cody, and so on.

I feel like the BEST boxer in welterweight history HAS to be Nick Diaz, but even though he's I think the best boxer at welterweight history, I'm sure lots of people would disagree, but I say best boxer at welterweight who would come out on top if they go head to head and who would outbox Nick?,

you know, I feel like the lack of elite boxers in welterweight has to be with the fact that it just used to be a shark tank of elite wrestlers at welterweight. In case Masvidal the lightweight journeyman is brought up, lol no.
Nick Diaz is a good pick. Don't forget GSP after training with Roach. His boxing got crisp during that time. Used it mostly to jab up his opponents and set up double legs but he had the best jab in mma for awhile.

No Nick Diaz has great body shots and uppercuts. He sets them up with the 1-2 then swarms them against the cage. Diaz boxing is multi-level, he just uses the 1-2 from range like most boxers. Diaz has great inside boxing and would break most fighters he fought on the inside.

Masvidal has nice mma boxing but not very combination focused. He has nice slip and rips. But they are usually single shot counters and very short 1-2 punch combinations that he usually throws with his hands. He likes to rush with a flurry then stop and reset. Also likes to finish his punch combinations with a kick with his right leg.

Jorge Masvidal is a better boxer than pretty much everyone you listed.

  1. A lot of the people you listed were not great "boxers" but rather just strikers. I love Fedor but his boxing style was sloppy boxing.
Lol this. By boxing standards his technique was awful. But he also fought MMA and it worked great for him

Conor was so washed up, I didn't anticipate that Conor would be THAT washed up. I knew he fought twice in last fours year, and still thought he would wipe the floor with him, I was wrong about THAT.

Gomi would annihilate someone like Poirier for sure. If Conor was at 30 percent best, he would have.

Poirier

I know right that was also GGG in his prime.
Yup in his prime, in his own gym, in his domain and in his own art (boxing).

Dana and Joe have sold us a lot of cold hard facts (utter bullshit) over the years,& this is one of my favs.

No offense but this thread is trash.

Masvidal, Nick Diaz, Nate Diaz, Paul Daley, Nate Diaz, Bj Penn, Marcus Davis.

Just keep echoing what other posters said like the sheep you are. No mind of your own lmao.

Now fetch me a sandwich

Lol, none of them are anywhere near elite boxers.
