Pulling guard is among the stupidest shit you can do in a real fight, especially with asphalt or concrete. It’s a disservice to teach it for self defence

His jujitsu is really good actually. Where it all falls apart is he's a fucking moron. He uses moves that barley worked by the late 90s when the likes of Tito Ortiz and company solved the guard riddle with elbows

His striking is atrocious and he needs some judo lessons. He doesn't belong in the UFC but is actually dangerous in some ways but also a danger to himself.

This. I dislike that guy so much that I enjoy watching him lose. To see a Gracie pull guard 5 times in a fight only to get slammed on his head and elbowed from the guard in the 6th time is really satisfying. But I admit that I am an asshole for saying that but for those of us who posted here before 2010, the Gracie / BeeJayJay cult was full blown back then, and it‘s admitedly Schadenfreunde to see this now in 2024.

His dad hasn’t had a gym for a very long time. But he used to do seminars all over and occasionally dropped by Kron’s gym to teach. He’s now fighting Parkinson’s so probably not teaching much if at all.

Good info. It makes me think that at this point training with the Diaz Brothers for any fight, especially MMA related, is a recipe for disaster at this point. You can win here and there but if a fighter wants any long term substantial success it won't be training under the Diaz camp. I could be wrong about that but the only fighter I can think of that wins consistently is that one boxer that is on cards under Jake Paul sometimes.

From what I can tell he’s been training with them for years because they are close and get along well. I don’t know that it wasa strategic choice to be the best MMA fighter possible. They do triathlons together, etc.

If you are good at it people will just get confused and submitted in a real fight.
I have been slammed on concrete and it was not the end of the world!
Sadly my BJJ is shit so I just ran away from that!

BJJ will always be the best form of self defense or one to one street fighting just because of people not really going all in fist fighting!
I have done a lot of studies into that! You always have an opportunity before it turns into a real fight and if you know bjj it gives you a very good tool for that!
More then one people only win in the movies unless they are really good boxers.
Or always carry a blade on them like me. ( I actually only wear it because fighting dogs have been tearing children's faces of lately).
What the fuck is up with that?
