South Korea has the highest rate of plastic surgery per capita of anywhere in the world. A beauty pageant in the region would have gone unnoticed had the remarkably similar faces of the contestants also gone unnoticed.

Our art director(Korean) told me this a couple of years ago- women in their country look alike because of plastic surgery. A guy here basically told me to eff off when i posted what our art director said.

I'm Korean and they all look alike to me. A lot of good looking girls look alike because they all have had plastic surgery to conform to the generic standards of beauty. This also goes for prostitutes and trannies. So a lot of hot chicks end up looking like trannies or hookers. You'll see it if you go out here, especially in more affluent areas. I go to a club and I seriously can't tell them apart.

Totally agree. This homogenizing effect of plastic surgery completely misses the point. One of the key aspects of beauty is uniqueness.

It's called the extremely (ethnically) homogeneous society effect. Very little interracial/people of non-Korea blood entering Korean beauty pageants. Coupled with the fact that their society obviously values a certain look about others leads you with women that mostly share the same features getting that far in the competition.
