I know this has been done a million times over the years, but it seems like no-one even cares anymore.
Well, I do and I really wish the UFC would have a push toward getting this included in the unified rules.

Has this just been filed in the 'too hard basket' now?

At the least I think they really need to address the definition of a grounded opponent. Simply having a hand down shouldn't be enough to make a fighter "grounded", it should be at least one knee down imo. As things stand, it limits certain positions and we've seen fighters try to put hands up, down, up, down, etc. in essence baiting a foul or just using that to stall the action.

How about instead of including this rule, removing the rule that 1 hand down = a downed opponent? I could live without the knees to the head of a grounded opponent, but the 1 hand rule is absolutely absurd.

Wow, you beat me to it by 1 second. We're on the same brain-wave though!

Knees, upkicks and 12 - 6 elbows should all be legal under the unified rules.

Stomps, soccer kicks and headbutts, as well, but they will never be made legal.

One FC has the best rules.

I think any fighter that tries that "one hand down" shit should have a point deducted on the spot. This is supposed to be simulated fighting and that is a behavior you would never do in a real-life fight. It's strictly taking advantage of a loophole in the rules. Fuck that I say.

Or the old pride rules where you couldn't knee the head in the turtle position

The most you'll see in the UFC and anything else under the US commissions is a change to the rules for what a downed fighter is.

fortunately...

Too harsh for casuals but a big tool that was taken away from the pride cross overs but shogun still became champ

The three point position is hilarious.

Anyone remember Rich Franklin and his stupid gameplan of approaching with one hand on the ground? I can't remember which fight he was planning to do this in. At least I think it was Rich. I recall there was a dumb fighter who thought this was a legit gameplan and I think it was Rich.

I've seen this posted before, but what's the logic in removing the clavicle foul?

Didn't he advise Serra to use it against GSP?

No idea, other than maybe it's never been an issue. Heel kicks to the kidney were only in there because Royce (I think?) did them a lot to guys in his guard. They won't do shit for winning the fight, but they'll make the guy piss blood for a week.

Ah there you go! So it was Rich, LOL. Props to Serra for not falling for it. Hahahah.

Remember when he kidney kicked Ken Shamrock for 20 minutes in UFC 5? Man I bet Ken did nothing but piss blood for a month, lol!

i don't think you should be able to knee someone on the ground, but the definition of "grounded opponent needs to change"

if the bottom of both your feet are on the ground then you are not grounded
