While I was rolling with someone my knee randomly stiffened up and hurt for a bit now when I squat down causes some discomfort should I just rest until it leaves

Take 1 week completely off. Like do nothing.

If you still have pain you go get an MRI for $550.

Strained ligaments can heal albeit very slowly. Torn ligaments get surgical repaired.

Meniscus and cartilage? Ohhhhhh man.

do at least 100-200 light reps per day of rehab work and it will heal ten times faster

I got it too in my left knee. Figured to swim for cardio and lift weights. Will do the bag tomorrow. But not squat. Just let it rest. Wear and tear is normal. When you push your body. It´s not a injury or pain but noticable discomfort.

Knee suddenly locking is a typical symptom of a meniscus injury - a piece of cartilege hanging off the edge or torn off and freely floating around in the joint can do that. If unoperated, symptoms may gradually decrease as that piece is ground down; however, unfortunately meniscus injuries tend to be recurring, that is, once you start having problems, they will likely keep returning periodically, plus untreated smaller injuries may over time lead to a big one. I had at least five smaller meniscus tears over the years, finally leading to a big one that required two surgeries in which 70% of the meniscus were removed.
Of course, I'm not a doctor, I can only talk about my own experiences and those of my training partners and coaches. Other problems may lead to the same symptoms.
