Don't know how I never knew about this show since it started in 2017, but have you guys seen it? It's set in an MMA gym and it's related to MMA. Cub Swanson even has a cameo along with another UFC guy whose name I forgot (he was relevant like 10 years ago).

It's actually pretty well done. Although I've only seen one episode so far.

Haven't seen it yet, but I plan to.

I've heard it's good, and that it's about both MMA and recovery. Right up my alley.

I saw it when it came out and made threads about it and no one really gave a shit. As for the show, it was dark and it didn't have a happy ending because it didn't get renewed. Tons of tragedy and sadness in the show with so much unresolved issues. Not something you watch if you want to feel inspired.

But that's why it was a great show. It showed the lowest aspects of the MMA lifestyle. It was so off-putting and yet it was the reflection of reality for good numbers of MMA gyms. If you have dream of being an MMA fighter, yet you watch this show, you will be dreaming about being an accountant or lawyer.

It's solid. The father, his eldest son and the struggling, former convict are by the far the best characters. Unfortunately, most of the arcs involving the women on the periphery of the fighter's lives falls really short. Overall, I was entertained but I'm a sucker for middling sports shows and movies. If you like MMA and can deal with good acting and some melodrama, go for it.

Frank Grillo and Jonathan Tucker - especially - are really good in this show. I finished it as it was airing and I rarely watch TV.

I echo the sentiment of the guy who said 7.5/10.

I started a few days ago
On second season, I’m actually watching now
It’s pretty damn good
Solid story line
Cast is pretty bad ass, especially Frank Grillo

Jonathan Tucker and his drug arc are the acting apex of the show for me. He's fucking great in this series. He's charismatic and tragic at the same time. Tucker has never really gotten a break since he was the villain in the failed Bruce Willis vehicle, Hostage, but he was good in that as well.

He's in City on the Hill on Showtime and he was good too.

I was actually going to comment about Tucker, you’re right, he’s Awesome
I just didn’t want to ramble on in my post

This guy needs more shine. Did that show get canceled? I like Bacon in dramatic roles.

Ramble on.
Since you insist
This guy kills it, usually when people are over the top and somewhat hyper, it just comes across as annoying. Every scene he oozes charisma
Not sure, if he’s just a good actor or if he really trains, but He’s convincing as hell as a fighter
Actually they all are (even Nick Jonas, which I can’t fucking believe)
I know Grillo is legit as a fighter

Side note, this show has a lot of bad ass cameos with real fighters

I'm glad they gave Joe Stevenson a regular role.

I liked Season 1, then it turned in to drama shit. Got irritating, the longer the show goes its less Joe Stevenson and real MMA fighters and more drama.

Only really funny thing later on is the son fights and the ref fucks up big time in the fight..
The ref that fucks up is played by.... CECIL PEOPLES
Now thats funny.

Speaking of Frank Grillo & fight movies has anyone else seen the 2018 film DONNYBROOK yet aside from me? It's an interesting, dark film with a few good fight scenes & Margaret Qualley as the female lead who goes fully nude in a skinny dipping scene which might just be worth the price of admission.

I have. Grillo is a grade A piece of shit in that film. I didn't think it was exceptional but Grillo alone was good enough to make me finish it. Qually was a nice bonus though the drunk guy she was grinding on really didn't do it for me, lol.

Yeah, that particular scene was a bit tough to watch. LOL. But, yeah, the skinny dipping scene & Grillo made it worth watching. It was interesting seeing Grillo playing the villain of the film as it had been a while since he's been the heavy in something.
