I mean, a while ago.

This song presents the political sentiments of 40% of the country with high degree of verisimilitude and an appropriate level of nuance.

Really, I feel like he's trying to appeal to people he thinks are morons as a business. But I don't know. He's always been a serious trend-follower (see the--ugh--"evolution" of his music during the course of his career). His great skill is the ability to jump fully into the latest trend without seeming to have any shame or any concern about looking ridiculous.

I don't completely disagree, nor do I completely agree. The idea of "most of the people who live in America" is pretty vague as is "most of OUR institutions and cultural products". Those platitudes have no real meaning and your use of them makes you as guilty of your accusation as anyone else.
There is such thing as agreeing with part an idea, but not all. You can enjoy the art without agreeing with the artist. You can like some products of a particular brand but not others.
We are all Americans, Jack. Even the ones you disagree with. You know, the "rightists".
Anyhow, whatever I implied with that snarky comment was my way of saying that I am the only real American and anyone who doesn't agree with me on every issue hates most of America and our institutions... Or something like that.
