Hey all, hope your training is going well. Here's a combination I've been working on the bags recently, you might like to try part of it!

A couple notes on the combo:

Use the recoil of your first roundhouse kick to draw back into your opposite stance, this sets up the stepping lead side kick which sets up the turning back kick or the hook kick to finish.

Train on both sides to build up your balance and general skill. Transition on to the pads and even start to use parts of the combination when you spar.

Thanks man , nice little tutorial, the dude has nice technique , explains well and imo its a great method training both stances.

Thanks Fadeless! The dude is me :)

To be honest with you, that did crossed my mind... cause i found some similarity between ur post and the vídeo ... both know what they are talking about and both give off a very good vibe ... u really seem to be a honest, talented and cool dude, thats a great combination!! "Congrats" bro :)
Do you coach classes? Which martial arts ? Im probably wrong but my guess is that you have a karate or kung-fu background ... anyways , i really enjoy ur stance, ur movement in and out the distance and ur techniques are very sharp and clean, most of all you have great interaction... the 1st thing that occured to me after watching the vídeo was "this dude is/would be a awesome coach"
Ill be looking forward to ur next tutorials :D
Cheers

Interesting combo but I'd like to see it thrown at full speed so I can visualise it landing for real on an opponent.

My first martial art was Shukokai Karate and over the years I've had a lot of good coaches in different styles. Mainly Muay Thai, Karate, Kickboxing and Boxing. So you're on the money! ;D

I do coach! :) At our school we coach Kickboxing / Muay Thai classes and Freestyle Karate which is a mixed system with a striking base.

I'm recovering from a recent injury so you wont see me going much faster for a while :p The best way is usually to try it yourself though! :) The main thing this combo teaches is moving in and out, work it on the bag first because it's easiest, get the balance right, find out what kind of timing works for your body. Then start working it on pads with a partner and even give and take drills. Finally when you go into sparring it's unlikely you will throw the whole combo exactly as you do on the bag, but you will be skillful in pulling off each part. Lets say you are In a boxing exchange you quickly throw a kick to the body and land back out of range, your opponent might not come at you, so combo over, but if they do then you have already practiced the tool to stop them.

Always like your videos, you have very good kicks. Thanks for posting and have a speedy recovery!

I hope you heal well from your injury and that your coaching
can provide you a good lifestyle.
Karate was also the 1st martial art that ive trained , the style was GojuRyu.
Im portuguese and currently still living in Portugal but my sister works and lives there in England. Financially and schedule wise im not able to visit her as much as i would like, im only able to visit her once every 2 years or so which pretty much sucks... i miss her ,alot, but i cant say i miss being in England cause i dont know how the hell you guys endure your goddam cold and rainy weather !!! :D
Anyways, it would be cool that for the next time ill visit her there, if i have a chance and if thats allright with you, ill try to talk to you and go to your academy and do a few training sessions under your supervision. It would be great

Osu, thanks my friend! I've got a few Goju Ryu friends locally actually!

We can train for sure if our timing fits! You would always be welcome at our school and you can always get in touch with me on here or any of my other social media accounts, usually martial lee or mixed martial lee :)

I thought about starting a new thread but might as well post here.

Do you guys have any good drills for stance switching [besides OP's]?

Man I've been waiting for you to get on sherdog :p
