If he goes up to LHW and beats Jan you could be on the money. Not sure there's a MW that beats him at the moment. I'd like to think Whittaker would do a lot better should he get a second opportunity and with a better game plan it should be a lot closer but Adesanya would still be a massive favourite in that hypothetical rematch.

Ya I agree that Izzy's already taken out all the top contenders. Meanwhile Usman still has to go through Burns(who has a decent shot). In that sense yes, Izzy's got a stronger grip on the division. I guess I just find Izzy's reign has more to do with favorable matchups whereas Usman's just really really good.

Favorable matchups not via ducking but just the nature of the top fighters in the division's skillsets. Yoel doesn't really try to wrestle vs guys who want to stand up. And yes Usman isn't moving up. Grapplers don't fare as well as strikers when fighting bigger guys.

I think the UFC wants him more at WW than MW, so aside from a short-notice fight, he's probably staying at 170 for now.

He almost definitely gets a WW title shot if he beats Edwards, so fighting at 185 isn't the best idea for him.

If Izzy in fact moves up to LHW, MW is an open division with Romero gone. He's definitely the best wrestler at 185 and could end up taking both belts by the time 2021 is done, but let's see him get one belt before we talk about getting two.
