We don't know much about Khamzat's striking development the last couple of years.

Judging him on his WW-brawl (2022) vs a guy he didn't want to grapple with, or 2 rounds where he was striking with Usman with an injured hand (2023), is probably not an accurate assessment of how his striking will look like in this fight, injury free at MW.

We do know that he has knockout power and is the biggest takedown threat in the division, which will play a factor in the striking.

Khamzat has 1 or 2 rounds tops to get it done with grappling.

He'll be panicking if his cardio is starting to fade, he can't keep DDP down, and starts getting pieced up which is a plausible outcome, so in that scenario, yes.

He was on his back for a few minutes vs Brunson and a little bit vs Till after he got reversed, eating elbows and GNP.

If I recall correctly he didn't attempt any subs off his back, but worked himself back up to his feet vs Brunson.

I guess it’s a case of is Khamzat’s top pressure enough to keep DDP down who is extremely physical.

To my knowledge DDP is better on top than in his guard but idk I’m torn on this fight.

I'm pretty sure he will try to stand for a while, it seems like the plan from his team at least.

The thing is, if he can't sway good enough to duck DDP's punches - just quickly change the plan and get him down instead.

It's interesting, because both of them have this wild/unpolished striking style in the heat of the moment. What if Chim can hang?

Dricus says himself that he's not the best wrestler, grappler, or striker, but that he's the best at mixing everything together in an MMA-fight.

His offensive wrestling will likely not be a factor at all in this fight, which is something that he used well vs Till, Izzy, Strickland.

His style of striking can also be more "wild" because he doesn't fear getting taken down, blitzes, high kicks, throwing punches off balance, will be a bit more difficult to get away with vs a takedown threat, who very likely can be able to control him once he gets taken down.

Relying on his physicality and granite chin to get his own offense in is also more dangerous vs someone with just as much power as him than vs Rob, Till, or Strickland.

Just as we have seen Khamzat make mistakes vs Burns in the striking, we've seen Dricus make mistakes in grappling vs Brunson and Till.

This fight has less room for errors for the both of them, as it should be in a title-fight.
