It's about expectations. A lot of people thought he was an Anderson Silva/Jon Jones/Khabib level fighter who would run through everyone on the way to the title.

He's not that, but he's just one level below that caliber of fighter, and that's still amazing.
I mean that wasnt being very realistic. Even Usman didnt just run right over Burns.

Yes, he did, and thanks god that not all fighters from this region are heartless crotch sniffers who hold onto legs like their life depends on it when shit gets rough.

Khamzat is a real man who challenges himself and who is not afraid to go into the fire. He knows that greatness can only be achieved when you leave the comfort zone and challenge yourself.

You dont become GOAT if you are a wrestler and only wrestle strikers, you become great when you beat them at their best, just like JBJ did!

wrestling is a weird thing, it works until it doesn't, will it work against usman? colby tried and he was the better wrestler and no, it didnt work, a lifetime of training out the window in one minute.

The wierd thing is that Colby and Usman never really took the fight to the ground or even seriously attempted to.

Its almost as if both assumed the other would be more comfortable on the ground and decided to duke it out on their feet.

I'm eager to see if Khamzat can beat Colby or Usman though. His gameplan will have to much better and far superior to the one shown today. His team are as much to blame as him. You could see how angry his coach was at the end of the 2nd round. It was either Khamzat deviating from the plan or they thought he was underperforming and being naive on the feet.

Some great fights to make for Dana.

It’s weird that people under appreciate Khabib who’s a generational talent.

Khamzat ain’t no khabib. There’s levels to this.
I think it's because Khabib destroyed Conor and he has a lot of ex fans around here.

Also everyone tries hard to bash the undefeated guy who never got scratched. Look at Floyd. It's human nature.

Of course cause burns hits harder than Justin g types

Fighters like Silva and Bones aren't supposed to be realistic, they are extremely rare which is what makes them Mount Rushmore special.

No shame in Khamzat not being of that quality. He's still an amazing fighter and a legit threat to Usman.

He aint hit his ceiling yet,for sure.

Khamzat passed the test & looked really good against one of the best 170ers in the world. But before the goat title he has things to improve. His TDD is excellent, his striking is technical & powerful, his grappling is overwhelming, his chin is like Mark Hunt...the only thing he needs to work on is his striking defense. Because in this game the chin can only take so much. Perfect example of Chimaev is chuck liddell. Badass striking, great TDD, but poor striking defense. Over time a tough chin that gets hit alot don't last.

That was the most glaring thing,is him keeping his hands down so much.

He should have won easily but he didnt
this guy is almost a lhw who barley won against a former Lw
he is bigger, stronger and younger and still almost lost
Im way more impressed with Burns

If he fixes his striking defense then it'll be very tough for anyone to beat or finish him. If he doesn't fix it he might go down like Chuck Liddell did imo.

Khabib also never fought anyone close to Burns, who would have been a nightmare for him. Burns is like the next gen Tibau.

Hopefully its a wakeup call for him. Not everyone gonna fold when he swarms em.

Anyone that genuinely believed that he would be the WW Khabib is a moron.

But also, don’t forget that Khabib probably should’ve lost against Gleison Tibau. Sometimes the other guy is game, it happens to every single fighter.

Floyd defended his titles for years and moved up multiple weights don't compare him to Khabib lol.

Floyd is a boxer.

Khabib is literally the only MMA fighter to go 29-0-0 without any kind of loss, DQ or NC.

So I'd argue what he did is more impressive.
