He fought Chad on short notice back when Chad was a mofo at 145. He could have easily pulled out and no one would have blamed him.

He risked his title shot with Aldo to fight Chad

No. He did not fight Chad on short notice.

He took a short notice change of opponent, but he was already training for Aldo, which means he was in fight shape and was able to periodize his training and weight cut.

Given that Mendes also didn't know who he was fighting from 10 days out, that makes it a wash.

Where McGregor has the advantage is that he was able to cut weight properly, and have a fight camp. Twitch reflexes degrade significantly when you aren't sparring regularly, and Conor had already had a camp to get up to speed.

The bottom line is both fighters had a week to gameplan for each other. Only one of those fighter was peaking physically on fight night, and it wasn't Mendes. And no, being in general "good shape", and being in "fight shape" are two completely different things, so please don't try to say "well Mendes stays in shape all year".
 
Cuntor McGregor will wait for Max to sign the contract to fight Khabib at UFC 223, then he will offer to fight Khabib at 223 once it is no longer possible.

And when Khabib beats Max at 223, McGregor will refuse to fight Khabib and claim that Khabib had a chance to fight him and passed it up.

And Holloway just pulled out of a fight a month ago too...come on. And they announced it on April fool's day...come on.

Chad was the one on short notice and had not been training. Conor was training. That's the difference.
