Media Khabib's training camp | weight cut episode

He has said this multiple occasions. Even his dad said he should go up and best the ww and/or gsp. He laughed it off and said no. The power nor his attributes, he doesn't feel like can translate over. I think he can beat a few guys in the top ww. Usman is a tough out. He has over twenty pounds on him.

If he said it on "multiple occasions", it should be easy to find. So, where is your source?

If Khabib fought at WW, he'd be facing guys who are natural LHWs

Unless weight cutting is banned across the board, you kinda HAVE to cut weight or your opponnents will have a big advantage

The conversation about Cutting weight isn't specifically tied to Khabib, relax haha, I'm not attacking your Fighter.

It's a Khabib thread, but I was simply responding to TS's premise that cutting weight sucks in GENERAL. So I made a general reply.

I never cared that Khabib fought at 155, and never parroted the narrative that at 170 he would get destroyed because he's undersized. I personally don't mind when Fighters cut weight as long as they make the weight like a professional I simply said, you don't have to.

Besides Colby is damn near a natural 17'er and has done fine, NOT a shot against Khabib either, so don't bother going through any mental gymnastics to find the insult either. If a Fighter can make the weight, I'm cool.

He's
Again, has Khabib even done that? Has he even tested the waters at 170?

Conor still has a better record at 170 than Khabib. Oh yea, and he's never pulled out of a fight due to a weight cut like Khabib.

I don't see Khabib volunteering to take on Masvidal.

He is busy ruling a division and defending his title unlike Conor. If Masvidal wants a piece of Khabib, he can easily move down and face him? Why doesn't he?

Yeah, can never break him in the octagon at 155 but he's too scared to go up to 170 and not have to deal with the weight cut to 155. He's cleared out 155, yet he won't go up to 170 to really test himself. And if he really wanted that GSP fight, he wouldn't need GSP to go down to a weight GSP has never fought at before. He would go up to 170 and fight GSP there.

All the tales going around of Khabib dominating guys bigger than him in practice, yet he kills himself to make 155? It's very contradictory. If he dominates guys that fight at 185 in training, going to 170 shouldn't be a problem. He's retiring at his physical prime instead of going up to 170. On top of that, claiming he fights for legacy and not going up to fight GSP at GPS's weight class? He can cement a true legacy if he clears out 2 weight classes. Khabib's the Floyd Mayweather of MMA.

Id say jon is the mayweather of mma

But how many people weigh *exactly* 155 (or 170 or 185 etc) pounds? You'd have to cut some weight probably. If you weigh 172 pounds and fight at 170, you still need to cut 2 pounds.
You don’t need to weigh exactly 155 to fight at LW. It’s a 146-155 weight class and WW is 156-170. It’s a choice to cut

Khabib looked worse cutting weight than he ever did in his fights.

Natural LHWs?

(2017) Darren Till: 200 lbs
Tyron Woodley: 190 lbs
(2012) Demian Maia: 190 lbs
(2009) Georges St-Pierre: 188 lbs
(2018) Michael Chiesa: 188 lbs
(2012) Kamaru Usman: 185 lbs
(2018) Carlos Condit: 184.5 lbs
(2018) Siyar Bahadurzada: 184.5 lbs
(2018) Curtis Millender: 183.5 lbs
(2018) Ben Askren: 183-185 lbs
(2017) Stephen Thompson: 182 lbs
(2016) Neil Magny: 182 lbs
(2018) Sage Northcutt: 181.5 lbs
(2019) Kevin Lee: 181 lbs
(2018) Colby Covington: 180 lbs
(2019) Nate Diaz: 180 lbs
(2017) Rafael dos Anjos: 180 lbs
(2019) Jorge Masvidal: 178 lbs
(2019) Anthony Pettis: 177.2 lbs
(2017) Mike Perry: 177 lbs
(2018) Donald Cerrone: 174 lbs

Not a single LHW here. Khabib out of competition probably weighs around 180-185. In fight shape, 175-178. Dieting + fight shape probably gets him down to 167-172

He'd be giving up the size advantage that he has at LW but he'd be relatively normal at WW.

Khabib fought at 170 pre ufc. 11-0 there. He doesn't move up now because him and Usman are friends. They don't want to fight each other(Usmans own words). No point moving up if the belt is not an eventual option.

True. Khabib walks around 190 out of camp, Tony 190-200 it of camp. I wonder what's both their walk around weight "in season"

Edit: I forgot khabib said around 183lbs
Khabib used to walk around att 190, and had trouble making weight. Dieeed down and didn’t have hw problem anymore.

He fought multiple times a night. I don't think it was atypical for fighters to fight at a higher weight class on the regionals. They're not going against world class athletes.

It's like saying oh back in college, a guy who's a small forward in the nba use to play center in college and try to bring that as an argument to why they guy should play center in the nba It doesn't compute.( Not saying you're making that case but I see it from people who talk about the weight a a certain way)

What guy in khabibs regional circuit is big as Usman, big as Woodley?

Khabib says that but he had no interest of moving up period even against Woodley. Because of the mass difference. As quoted by the video I sourced and quotes. Before Usman it was Woodley and he still said no

The pre-UFC welterweights are no where near as threatening to him as the welterweights in the UFC right now.
