Khabib : "you can't have two primes" - Do you think Conor's time has passed ?

MMA Prime and Businessman Prime:

He transitioned off McGregor Simultaneous-Double-Champ (Act II)

to then market what he had achieved in MMA to generate his Businessman Prime (Act III) -- where he is currently leveraging MMA whilst continuing to accumulate large chunks of Wealth

Yeah, the LW title shot was given to him at the right time, but the FW run was legit. I don't think you can say he received an easy road to the FW title. And he beat Aldo.

Not a Conor fan.

not exactly all easy but he did have alot of luck on his favor imo

Brimage - can
Holloway - injured
Brandao - can
Porier - Back of head
Siver - over hill can
Mendes -Dominated Conor ( dropped hands)
Aldo - Luckiest Punch around the world

It could well be. He's in his 30s, according to Dana has had numerous ankle injuries, and now the leg break. These are not good signs, and that's on top of being a rich celebrity which quite often derails the kind of focus and motivation that got you there in the first place. I would love to see him get back on top because he is so entertaining, but it's getting late in the day for him.

Conor haters are worse than his fans.

Conor tore his ACL against Max

His chin has been softened, too much booze and coke destroys your body, rich as fuck, not as hungry. He is definitely not in his physical and psychological prime fight wise.

That said, nothing guarantees that he would have beaten Doostin and Khabib at his best. McGregor was a formidable feather but not a formidable lightweight. His potential at lw will always remain a “what if” because he went after Mayweather instead of staying at lw while he was young and hungry. I can’t blame the man, it played beautifully for him money wise. Not a single mma guy has generational wealth like Conor does and that’s because of Mayweather and Proper 12, two things that distanced him from the sport.

Conor is only 32. He's still in his prime. The problem is he was so inactive so we don't know how good he really was.

He didn't have to fight a bunch of guys in the top 10 in a row to earn a title shot like everyone else. He drained himself to beat up the smaller guys at FW then had to move up when they implemented the IV ban.

He got the FW title shot after beating Siver and got the LW title shot after getting finished by Diaz and then beating then beating him in questionable decision.

People got honeydicked by Conor's hand holded career and gifted title shots against favorable matchups so they think his prime passed, despite him being just as good if not better than ever.

I'd say some fighters could.

Look at Glover Teixiera...

There's also athletic primes and technical primes in combat sports. Peoples games age differently. Like someone said semantically Khabib is right.

Very true. You have certain fighters that were actually better later in their careers cause they developed their game than when they were in their physical prime. Someone like Randy Couture comes to mind.

Of course you can have two primes

Just ask Vitor

In his case the latter period was his true prime but it shouldn't count because he grew dinosaur skin and wolverine titanium claws...

I mean you can't have two primes so to speak but you can definitely have late careers resurgences or a more mature game with time.

I'm thinking of examples like Maia, Lawler, Glover Teixeira, who had kind of a second shot during their respective careers

Do you think Conor can be competitive again against the top 5 ?
Yes I think he is passed his prime, he has been too inactive over the last five years and it shows in his fights. He has like three wins over the last five years and as many losses, I just don't see him going on another great run. He can still grab the belt but it'd have to be through lucky timing and favorable match making and I think its unlikely to happen.

When did Conor even have a prime? It's hard to have a prime when you don't even have a title defense.

No one goes through what Conor has recently gone through and comes back at their best.

Conor has always been as one dimensional as he is right now.

If he could still make FW, he’d probably still be dominating most if not all of them.

Now he has to fight people his own size, so it looks very different.

In short, he’s still in his prime.
