How amazing is that?
The guy makes millions, is a huge star, builds up his legacy and likely has less brain damage than some hobbyist/amateur boxers.
That's what you call having the cake and eating it too.
He almost never got hit. I know training is where you put yourself at risk, but they are doing mostly wrestling at AKA, so this shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Daghestani fighting style>all

Fighters get hit sparring all the time.
They are not boxing very much at AKA, are they?
Besides, the little bumps to the head you get in wrestling aren't enough to give you CTE imo.
Especially as Khabib is always the agressor and winning the rolls.

The blanket who has no power? Ok then....
<23>

Because he had 1 finish(by submission) in the last 11 year?

Agree.
The only way GSP wins that is by stuffing the takedowns and running circles around him, fighting to a boring unanimous decision.
But this isn't a GSP vs Khabib thread, just a thread on if it's possible to be a top fighter without sustaining too much brain damage.

But his nutsack will be perpetually inflamed from being covered in your saliva 24/7.

He’s lucky he never faced Snoozeman. He would’ve been KO’d stiff

Khabib has probably taken thousands of headshots in sparring alone.

He might already have it for all you know.

I have no idea how much pro-mma fighters spar. And how hard they spar. If they spar with strikes let's say twice a week and go light, and only go hard in camp, this should be ok.
Especially Khabib. I think his mma sparring sessions look like his fights. Taking down his opponents without taking a shot is what he does...

in all of his training he never got hit in the head and never got his head hitting the mat/floor

ok

The small bumps you get from rolling aren't enough to give you brain damage I think (unless of course you are slammed or kneed in the face hard while inverting guard...)
They made studies on lifelong grapplers (judo, wrestling, bjj) and none of them showed to have cognitive impairment.

true, but nowadays people use 16oz gloves and headgear when they go hard. at least intelligent people do.

it's not like when wanderlei and shogun sparred 15 years ago at chute boxe with some worn out 12oz gloves, knocking each other down several times per sparring session. most MMA gyms have learned the hard way that proper gear helps with career longevity. they obviously also spar with smaller gloves, but don't throw hard.
