Khabib vs Tibau - how did u score it?

The only reason people score it at all for Khabib is because Tibau had a slight, superficial cut over his eye and so Khabib must have won in the standup. That is the only argument I have ever heard that Khabib won the fight. Of course these people completely ignore the big body shots Tibau was throwing and landing

Khabib did do more damage. The striking was fairly equal, with a very slight edge to Tibau. The fight was very even, and the judges so this and decided to give it to the more active fighter, which undoubtedly was Khabib.

Regarding this shitty fight, I rewatched it last year. It was a really, really, shitty fight. Very little happened in it in terms of offense. It's the type of fight that no fighter deserves the win for. All three rounds could be 10-10's under the 10-point must system. However, it's easy to argue for a Gleison 30-27 decision...

First round, no one had a striking edge. Though Gleison won statistically. Gleison gets the nod for being the aggressor just for being the one walking forward for the first 3 minutes, while Khabib was constantly backing up. Khabib gets some points for control for failing to take Gleison down and holding him against the cage. I'd score it 10-10 or 9-9, but if I had to pick a winner I'd go Gleison for the aggression and striking stats.

Second round, still no striking edge. Gleison no longer the aggressor. However this time you can give it to Gleison for control for the half-successful takedown. Again, I'd score it 10-10 or 9-9, but if I had to pick a winner I'd go Gleison for the takedown.

Third round, kinda similar. No striking edge, but stats go to Tibau. No aggressor. Gleison got the takedown and got Khabib's back so wins via control. Again, I'd score it 10-10 or 9-9, but if I had to pick a winner I'd go Gleison.

Draw or to Tibau imo. People ask “why does it matter “, and it really does not unless you value that flawless “undefeated” record. Khabib was a very different fighter then, but he was not a flawless dominant smashing machine his whole career - he was brought along slowly like many boxers now are and fed a steady diet of cans and journeymen until he honed his skills to a world champion’s level. What made mma so popular was its rejection of the modern boxing prototype and they had the best fight the best. Boxing committed suicide by falling victim to this record padding syndrome, not having the best fight and I hope mma never makes that same mistake. Ali and Sugar Ray Robinson both took multiple losses but are considered the GOATs - the undefeated record is over rated.

I dont remember how I scored it, but I remember Tibau getting absolutely nothing done and Khabib killing himself to try and make something, anything, happen. So yeah, I say give it to Khabib. One of the most boring fights in the modern era of UFC.
I think we should add a poll for one of the most boring fights of the last decade, i will add Shields vs Woodley and Shields vs Maia in grapple heavy bouts
Add Mir vs Arlovski, Machida vs Hendo (some nice trips though), Wonderboy vs Woodley (if I am not mistaken) Highlevel staring contests

According to sherdog they're all onsteroids
In Tibau case it was bad enough to get caught.

I would not be surprised if Khabib wasn't on anything. Dude performed even better after USADA and retired in his physical prime before slowing down and get beat like everybody does.

Not a lopsided win and perhaps the 30-27s are a tad of a stretch but Khabib won that one via aggression and control.
Khabib had FIFTEEN (15!) times more control time than Tibau. With the striking being more or less equal and the grappling likewise not clear-cut, the fight should be scored via Effective Aggressiveness and Fighting Area Control, both of which favor Khabib.
This is per the unified rules (https://mmareferee.com/?q=unifiedrules).
Pretty uneventful fight, but there's no controversy there. Khabib won.
This.
/thread
actually /end the 100s of this same thread bc someone talks about this fight every other week.
Khabib won this fight based on the rules. Weasle also has a great breakdown of it as well.

1 round - Tibau (more strikes)
2 round - Tibau (1 td vs control, strikes even)
3 round - Tibau (1 td+more strikes vs control)

I can see 29-28 Tibau or 30-27 Tibau.
