Media Khabib Nurmagomedov on Irish MMA: "Not even half" of Dagestan's level

he's right, there's only 2 good irish fighters right now, Paul Hughes who is a challenger for the lightweight belt against Usman Nurmagomedov, and Ian garry who's a top 5/6 welterweight. Dagestan has 3 likely title contenders(Movsar, Ankalaev, Umar) 2 champs(Islam, Usman) and the LW goat in khabib
Movsar is Ingush which is very close to Chimaev ethnicity

Okay but who wants to live in Dagestan?

then why is Beterbiev still beating the fuck out of everyone in boxing while nearly being 40?

Why did Beterbiev move to Canada when he went pro, if the Dagistanis are so great at boxing?

if you have to stay in a country in order to claim it then i think there's barely any good fighters that aren't in America. America is #1 and everyone else is like a million years behind because practically everyone who has ever been a somebody in combat sports moved to America for a period because they were thought to have the best facilities and training. hell, that's still true now. how many non-American gyms are at the top in MMA now? barely any. even all the Dagis had to come to AKA in order to flourish, Shavkat is in Florida with Kill Cliff same with Ian Garry, etc.,

i remember for a long time people didn't consider you a serious threat in boxing unless you moved to the States and trained there.

I never said he couldn't claim being Dagistani. The claim (not mine) is Dagistanis (plural) or Dagistan, either the culture or the people, are better strikers/boxers than the Irish, based on the success of one individual.

There is a difference between doing part of your camp in the states and moving permanently to the states (or Canada).

Also, there is a big difference between boxing and MMA. If you are training MMA you need to find guys with all kinds of styles and disciplines. If you are doing boxing you just need boxers, and if Dagistanis are great at boxing, why move?

well i'm not arguing that Dagestan is better than Ireland or Ireland is better than Dagestan. i asked that Beterbiev question because i want to know HOW these people are quantifying what makes Dagestan so much better than Ireland in MMA and/or what makes Ireland so much better than Dagestan in boxing. neither of them dominate either sport they're talking about. it's not like black Americans in the NBA, where 70% of the players are black Americans. this is why i never got the whole "Dagestani's going to invade MMA" thing. they have produced exactly 2 UFC champions. it's not like they have 5 UFC champions and half the top 10 in every weight class is Dagestani. the same for Irish, they're hardly dominant enough to act like they're so much better than everyone else in boxing.

now if Dagestan wants to talk wrestling, they might have a case...

i think he moved to gain better access to facilities, higher level of training, and to be closer to Vegas and the States where fights are more likely to happen. there is a difference between camp and permanently moving, but that's my point tons of fighters permanently moved to America in boxing and in MMA. look at Anderson, Vitor, Wand, all these guys moved to the States and lived here for years and some of them even still live here. that's what i meant when i said coming to the States, i didn't mean just for camp, i mean TONS of fighters literally move to America to train. but that doesn't mean i think the Brazilians in Brazil are shittier, no, the difference for me is the facilities and high level training is more accessible here compared to most other countries. but Brazil, UK etc they can still develop elite fighters to the same degree because not everybody learns the same and you CAN produce a world class fighter without training at a world class gym.

James Joyce, Oscar Wilde, Roy Keane, Robbie Keane, Liam Neeson, William Yeats, Robert Boyle, Colin Farrell, U2, Brian O'Driscoll... and that's just from Ireland. If we include the Irish diaspora, the amount of greatness goes through the roof. So again I ask: And what exactly is Dagestan known for other than MMA fighters, terrorists, warlords, gangsters & Putin bootlickers?

?

How do you go from James Joyce to Robbie Keane???? lol

He should be comparing with US, Brazil and the likes. Not a country that only love soccer, rugby and boxing.
