Below is the summary of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, Khabib father interview, dated downloaded to Youtube 30th. As I understand the interview was made 11 days before fight, i.e. approximately March 28th. Anyway it is the most recent interview.
- Says not feasible to train in Russia. Due to children , wife, guests, relatives etc. Better to go abroad 2 months before the fight. Or minimum 45 days before. In Caucasus it is very traditional, you cannot ignore and sit with guests, and you have to ignore the trainings.
- Says starting in the morning he goes to mountains and works to cut the weight. Says it is already 5th cut of the bodyweight so it not so difficult, they are more used to it. From other side Khabib is already becoming mature and they plan to win belt, defend it once and go up in weight
- Agrees that for title fight need to also additionally decrease the 1 pound weight. Do not foresee any difficulties. Current weight as of March 30th is 79kgs, after training became 77 kgs - this is 11 days to fight.
- Despite this being already second weight cutting in 4 months, does not see problem as in general does not allow Khabib wight to grow beyond 85 kgs at any time. Before liver crushing they allowed it up to 90 kgs.
- Before Michael Johnson fight in interviews Abdulmanap said that he is dangerous first 5 minutes, before fight with Edson Barboza in interview he said he is dangerous for 7-8 minutes. Says for Ferguson he is dangerous for 10-11 minutes, as he is best in functioning in that weight category, and has very nice record. Says Ferguson has strong character but is not in friends with his head. When asked why says because he was knocked sown 7 times for the last 1.5 years (4 in one of the fight). Therefore we have advantage in stand up and think Ferguson falls sooner. Khabib may use his greco-roman grip (cross one as I understand.
