I've thought about getting one but I'm not a huge fan of the TD on the cap but I can get over that. Anyway, have you used one? I've wondered how the tension on the covers are and if they can easily flip closed accidentally.

I do have one. I haven't taken any courses or anything with it or beat the shit out of the rifle at all, but the caps are a nice tight fit when open or closed. There's a little lip so they sort of snap into place.

Upon thorough examination I can factually pronounce this Spike's design as having achieved the level of "Tits". But with cojones.


The replacement gas block (Syrac Ordnance) is installed. I decided against cheaping out on adjustability because if anything the carbine-length gas system on the 16" barrel will be over-gassed. But who'm I kidding, I love options and have rationalized and adj. gas block for each build so far. Next time or two I'll save $80 and go with something standard.

Norgon and Tango Down can't get here quickly enough. Then deciding how badly I want a red spider logo engraved on the handguard.

It's getting close to cerakoting time on Mr. Bones. Anybody savvy to ensuring that gets done properly?

What is under your handguard for a muzzle device. Falkor just released their blast cap.

I'm going with the fake can. Somehow it's just perfect with the 15" handguard. It achieves MAC-10 Toughness and that's good shit.

I'm thinking about a shorter riser for the Airmpoint. Not sure if the riser is part of the Aimpoint or the LRP mount. lol. It was a package deal at purchase.

@RerouteToRemain, I don't want to buy a new QD mount. Just a shorter piece that goes between the QD and the optic. Looks like I have 39mm and a 30mm option is out there. First price I see though is still 70 bux.

Lol at that price might as well get the larue or another brand(and keep/sell your current one). Imo I'd rather have a spare qd mount than a spare riser for $30ish more.

Good point. The LT751 looks about right. It also eliminates my issue with the silver lever on the LRP. Now if I can find a deal on it.

You were talking about an acog for bones. Have looked at the leupold D-EVO system. Not cheap but pretty cool imo.

1x on top and x6 on bottom and you can use both simultaneously.

@RerouteToRemain That's kinda awesome. I've already got the ACOG for Bones though. I liked it so much for Bones that I thought it would be great on the Spike's too. We saw how that turned out. But I've a hard time moving away from this, especially when it's paid for. White carakoting would have to produce a radical change. If anything I expect the ACOG to look even better once more stuff is whited out.

I'm wondering how this will look with a Magpul 60 round drum sticking out the bottom (and the lower mount ). Anybody pick up the drum yet? I haven't been looking into reviews. I figure it works since it's Magpul. The plan is to pick a couple up at the first sale giving a substantial discount from list price.
