Are you suggesting Love should have been a starter recently? He was an AS starter when he was the best player on his team (and not chronically injured). He's been the 3rd best player on his own team that past 3 years. This year he's #2, but his numbers are down.
And limiting it to American white players when Dirk and Nash used to get voted on without issue?
How many white players have been legit all-star snubs? And don't say Jokic. If he were in the East, sure, but he's not.
Foreigners dont count bc of the fan voting, remember it only recently changed. And your pt is partly correct, frankly there's not that many really good American white players anymore. The vast majority of 'elite' white guys are foreigners and have been since the 90s
In 2015 and 2016 Horford was an AS and Love wasn't, in the EC.....and had less pts and rebounds per game. He's also soft and not good at D
KVH was never an AS, despite averaging 18/7.5 t/o his time in NJ including his second year w/ 21.8/8.5. And before anyone goes 'wait, what" peep Brad Miller's numbers the two years he somehow was an AS and get back to me
Gordon Hayward was an AS only once, last year, despite putting up similar numbers (about 2 less ppg) the previous two seasons
Mike Miller had two pretty damn good years in MEM where he arguably could've been an AS 18.5/5.4/4.3 and 16.4/6.7/3.4
Ryan Anderson had a case for like two seasons in NO, had seasons of 16/7.7, 19.8/6.5, 17/6, etc...
Unless Horfords 5 assists are the deciding factor (and perhaps they should be for a big man, that's pretty legit).....the fact that he's made it multiple times and these other guys haven't....
who knows
but ya it's a stretch after that, although it makes sense. The nba is only about 18.5% white now, and it's 22% foreign....obviously some of the foreigners are explosive but counting for the white foreigners it's pretty suspect haha. 7 teams last year didn't even have an american white guy, only 43 in the league last year and 42 the year prior (damn son)
edit: the fact Brad Miller made it, twice, destroys this whole argument btw haha.
