Kepler Space Telescope: Scientists Trying to Determine Mysterious Objects in Space

That is a good point.

Basically, if an advanced civilization wants us not to find them, they can probably do that quite easily. Our junky probes and whatever else are nothing.

Michio Kaku makes this point in a great 9:00 YT clip if you searched 'Aliens'. He is basically saying we are so arrogant to think that aliens use our same communication technology when they could be using communication technology that spans the entire broadband (think lasers instead of radio or hydrogen). He also said that they would need to use other forms because of the massive amounts of objects that could interfere with the signal. He compared it to how the internet breaks apart information and reforms it at the other end.

I might sound ignorant here but I rolled my eyes even before the alien crap. Stuff like saying it's not even a new star, but an old star. I don't think they have any idea, other than guesses, as to whether a star is new or old. I think we get BS'ed a lot when it comes to the goings on in space because 99.999999% of us have no way of ever finding out. Scientists and astrologists state these things as fact when they're actually just weak theories and they'll stay weak theories for a long long time.

And fuckin' magnets, how do they work?

Ahh, the arrogance of ignorance.

Can't trust those astrophysicists. Bunch of Nimrods with their pseudo education. Better to just trust your gut on this one. Don't bother researching their methods yourself, just get intimidated and claim it's all baloney.

Yes, you do.

Why?

Maybe they aren't all a bunch of scared crybabies reaching for an adult hand in the dark like we are?

What organisms would want to be found by humans? What do we have to offer? We are like these stupid puppy dogs who jump into everybody's lap, lick their face, and think that everybody will love us. Why?

What are we trying to find in space? Things we can use. Of course.

Any sentient, advanced race would likely see us for the war mongering, self-brutalizing horrors that we are. We've decimated the earth, poisoned the air, stripped the oceans and murdered ourselves by the billions.

It's easy to imagine the only scenario in which aliens would contact us would be to stamp us out before we finish annihilating our home.

So they think they've found a Dyson sphere?

It reminds me of the skeptic Randi. He said that good, legit scientists are/were often fooled by con men. Because they aren't used to dealing with deceptive agents. It takes a con man to catch a con man basically. Randi and other magicians know the tricks.

I was listening to something about Alan Turing. The lecturer made an interesting point that what Turing did requires great empathy. Cryptology. Codebreaking. It requires elasticity of thought. To get in the mind of another and see how they think. A code that is created, can be understood by SOMEBODY at least. Now let's try to think like that SOMEBODY. You gotta like try to surf through their mind. Their reasoning process.

Einstein thought like that too. He wants to know the mind of God. That isn't just causes and data/evidence. It is reasoning. It is seeing things from many different perspectives.

Very interesting, thanks for the insight.

I have and it's all guesswork based on an evolutionary theory that we hardly have any proof of, unlike the evolution of earth. Articles come out saying these things as matter of fact, when in reality it's all just guesswork because we have absolutely no way of ever knowing about any of that.

Yes, you do.

Haha astrology, astronomy, whatevs man.

.

You clearly have not. You don't know what you're rambling about. I'd bet good money you "don't believe" climate science, either.

God forbid someone is skeptical of theory based work that's claimed as matter of fact. A scientist said it so it must be true! Gtfo with that nonsense.

Exactly.

Though I do think they may at least study us, or have some interest. Even if we are common or insignificant. Think of scientists on Earth. No matter how small or distant an organism is, you will find at least one person who is interested in studying it.

I watched Encounters at the End of the World by Werner Herzog. I love this guy. It is a documentary on Antarctica. He is talking with a diving biologist. They get in suits and get in that ocean. The scientist said it is crazy down there. So many creatures that could kill you in many different ways. It is war in those waters. The Ocean is one big ghetto. He didn't call it a ghetto, that is my addition.

Herzog asked the scientist an interesting question. He said something like, "Do you think that is why life left water in the first place? To escape this place?" The scientist responded that is exactly why he thinks life first left the oceans of Earth. To get away from that.

I have thought of that before. That "heaven" is actually aquatic in nature. The concept of it. A safer or more divine place above us that offers hope. Fish feel about land what humans feel about space now. We anointed space as Heaven. The Sky. A better place. This goes back to Aristotle and prior. He thought space was better because the Earth is a hellhole, and space is perfect. Heaven. We still actually believe space is Heaven. There is something greater than us out there. I think that is what we are looking for. Some smart race to basically solve our problems. Hand it over to them.

I like this scene. This penguin is us:

Oh wow

That penguin clip is pretty legit

I'd say there are few much more likely scenarios than megastructures 15-20 times the size of Jupiter created by intelligent life.

1.) Our grasp of the age of stars could be off since this whole thing is based on the star itself being very young, and spectacularly off. Much more likely than artificial structures that large.

2.) The dimming of the star could well be internal, just because we haven't seen a star doing this before doesn't mean this is abnormal behavior...not to mention our understanding of stars (and the sun) and how they ultimately function is pretty rudimentary.

3.) Since these are irregular intervals of light fluctuation, I don't see why this wouldn't likely be assumed to be recently captured objects.

...In short, the objects are so unbelievably large, 15-20 times the size of Jupiter is unfathomably big, it's hard to believe on it's own.

That's the most Korean looking dog I've ever seen.
