Indeed, it seems the openness of it is a shift from the previous couple of decades. However, it never really goes away; just underground. I believe people grossly under-estimate the prevalence of antisemitism since it was far more apparent in the US (and Hollywood in particular) back in the early part of the last century and has become more and more concealed until recently. I think it's partly because American antisemites rank them above Muslims and love to provide military support so it gives them cover.Mel is an interesting example to point to. His major faux pas was allowing alcohol to make him incaution enough to spout off with some anti-semitic remarks as well as misogynistic boorish behavior and comments to a policewoman. I think he was allowed a certain redemption arc because since then a certain amount of anti-semitism has been allowed to openly flavor society. Plus, he does indeed make money both as an actor and director.
By way of example, in 1939 a ship full of Jewish refugees from Germany were turned away from the US and it's not like their arrival was a big surprise all of a sudden.

Voyage of the St. Louis

Aside from Musk's "gesture", surely no one has forgotten this,

And of course there's the abrupt rise of political clout among far right parties like AfD and consolidation of power by leaders who would otherwise be buried in criminal prosecutions, like Netanyahu and Trump, all around the world. This is a clear trend and should concern everyone.
I sincerely wish everyone who voted against this shit all the best of luck because you're going to need it.
