What’s up with the succes Karate based guys have in MMA? I’m thinking GSP, Whittaker and there’s some karate stuff in McGregors game too. (I know there are many more karate-based fighters)

Or is it just a coincidence (since they all have other very good an maybe even more important skills, GSP= good wrestling, Whittaker= great takedown defense, Conor= great boxing, counter striking)?

Karate is another super boring style in MMA.

machida, wonderboy, GSP, etc.

Machida!!! Legit Karate... Just ask Rashad.

It's simple, if you're good at everything else. And to level at karate, you are foigoto do well in mma

GSP isn’t boring and Machida wasn’t boring back in the day? Wonderboy has his days...

Boring is subjective. Wrassler finds him, Machida and Wonderboy boring. You find them entertaining. This is as surprising as it would be to learn (for example) that one of you likes jazz and the other finds it boring ... you're two different people, it'd be odd if you agreed on what was boring or entertaining.

Me, there are definitely things to be learned from watching GSP's and Machida's fights, and from what I heard even high level pro's go over GSP's takedowns - that is, they rewatch his fights.

And as far as karate folk in MMA goes, Liddell was originally a karate stylist too. I liked his fights too.

Machida hasnt had a boring fight in 7 years.

This not true at all.

More like Machida HAd exciting fights, but you can't really argue that he has been pretty boring early on, AND he does have boring fights..

Machida is one of the most boring fighters there is, watch him against Phil Davis or Dan Henderson. GSP just laid on guys trying to fight him.

Only boring for kids like you who never fought before.

MMA was late to the game with Karate. K-1 showed how effective Karate was a long time ago, Idiots like Rogan were spouting hate about Karate/TKD in MMA saying it would never work despite being a TKD black belt himself. Eat your words Joe Rogan

Because they're the only prime "high level" strikers currently training all aspects of MMA and trying to compete.

Put a top prime kickboxer in right now training all facets of MMA at AKA and he'd do better. Put Anthony Joshua (world HW champ boxer) at AKA and he'd be a GOAT.

You blind? or just stupid?

All styles need to be tweaked a bit for mma because of the unique mma rule set. Karate is very effective for mma if properly adapted to just like any other martial art (boxing, wrestling, bjj) they all need to be adapted.
