Karate Blitz in MMA

You're gonna teach this kid how to get fucked up with that. He already has a head start in that department.

I wasn't saying that's a good way to train for MMA--especially if that's all you do. My point was that young Vitor's blitzing style was compared to that. And Vitor was closer to that than Fedor, who has zero traditional martial arts in his striking.

As somebody that trains Karate for some years (blue belt) it defenitely teaches some highly effective and dynamic striking. We see that Karate style striking becomes more and more established in MMA and fighters with traditional Muay Thai / Boxing style seem to have a hard time to deal with the quick blitzes and kicks that come without the usual chambering.
With that being said, Karate also has a lot of "traditional martial arts" stuff that is not directly relatable to actual combat. Kihon and Kata are 2/3 of Karate and these are more to teach basic technique and muscle memory but are not really useful for actual combat. So if you're really looking to compete in MMA you should focus on a solid base of grappling/wrestling and then sprinkle some Karate on top (like Henry Cejudo). Just go to Kumite/sparring sessions in Karate schools to pick up the dynamic striking but starting normal Karate classes would take too long with all the additional stuff.

you overthink things too much. you're going to get ko'd in the first round kid. Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face - kenny florian

Lol your a nobody. Kys

Lol Vitor's was amazing but also a lot different. Im speaking about covering distance in very explosive and fast, with a powerful bomb or two.

Which is what Vitor did well in his youth.

Whittaker dropped Jacare multiple times and finished Tavares in the first. Compare that to Yoels fights against those 2

Karate blitz is a point fighting technique that has zero real world application or relation to real fighting.
