If he's being genuine I can understand where he's coming from, celebs like Morgan Freeman and Lil Wayne have the same attitude. They came from little and made a lot and it helps buffer their history; but a lot of me feels that he's a business man and is playing to a silent majority.

While he may harness those beliefs he hasn't had a hit in a while, he's using a hot topic to get his name out there. It kind of sucks, but puffing your chest is the way to do it these days I guess. Honestly I think this is a good time.

To sub-quote Kevin Lee... What would be ideal is for the African American Identity to diminish, because they're not African... We've gotten far enough to where the Black community can harness their own identity as Americans... hence, "Black Americans." All of that being said all of the bullshit wasn't that long ago.

Can someone explain to me why the opinion of an Opioid addicted mentally ill hip hop producer matters so much politically? I personally haven't cared about anything Kanye had to say since he chose Jay over Dame.

Colored, negroes, black, African-American, Black-American.....none of it matters cause we know we'll always be seen as N----- by whites. Hence why you still need to use race as an identifier instead of just referring to us as Americans.

right wingers looking for celeb validation. But already knew that since they voted for one.

Hilarious that somebody who can't possibly be taken seriously is now being excused into the enlightened ranks.

Kanye's stupid, arbitrary, know-nothing horseshit is working like a charm on you people, just like it has always worked for him.

And his celebrity is powerful against you, owns you. His vacant charisma is a cattle prod up your ass.

Literally the first guest a serious political show had on was a dumb rapper who tried to analyze Trump. The left has tried to parade out, and legitimizes celebrities to get people to vote for them.

How dare you sir. Kanye is a modern day Aristotle.

LOL @ making a thread about Kanye West. Thats bottom of the barrel.

Someone get Ja Rule on the phone to see what he thinks of thus!
"...he says, while eagerly waiting for the next thread about Ted Nugent."

What an empty statement. You might as well ask why left wingers no longer care about celebrity validation now that one of them isn't repeating the status quo.

That's a bad way to look at it. It's just identity. My roots are French Canadian. Why not just Canadian then? White people also identify and clan up to their European country's heritage. It's not just... "Were White" It's, Oh... I'm Irish, German, and French, or I'm Finish with a bit of American Indian etc..

The truth is the majority of white people don't care what color anybody's skin is; but going back to my original quote, we're stepping into an age where Black Americans are starting to harness good and powerful positions in America and it's a very good thing.

So why hold on to "African American" when all it does is remind a person of an untraceable history, when you can say "Black American" and have some pride about your ancestors that had boots on the ground in this country. It's not over yet, but the struggle that community is overcoming has been remarkable in the last couple of hundred years.

Uh...calling Jay-Z "a dumb rapper" is a little bit slanderous. I get your point, but probably not the best example lol.

Oh please ever since i was a kid its been a tenant of the right to tell celebs to stick to whatever it is they do. They build campaigns off this.

I think there are two facts

1. If you take your political advice from a celebrity, you are a moron.

2. Celebrities have an influence on politics.
