Friendly sparring like that will always favor the grappler over the dynamic, powerful striker. Merab didn't look to grapple much though and he was clearly the worse striker of the two. I hope Asakura can actually make 125 without sacrificing his chin, and I hope he's been drilling back defense for a while now.

Honestly wouldn't mind seeing Kai at 135, definitely has a better shot at the title at 125 though.

I haven't watched the footage yet but if there are repeated takedowns attempts defended he can see how he defends, what his go-to's are, potential weaknesses to exploit, etc

Well although I enjoyed their conversation I feel a little bit cheated. Kinda expected a 20 minute sparring session due to how the thread was phrased but it was only 7 minutes. Still god though.
