K-1 has finally gone too far

It"s a disgrace to see such thing in a professional promotion.

promote and invest in the youth? K1 koshien produced stars, don't see why giving even younger fighters a stage to fight could be wrong.

Mighty Mouse could get in there and wreck shit. He'd be giving up a couple of inches in height, but his speed should balance it out.

These are kids, not teenagers. In Europe it would bring just bad image and exploitation.

You realize its an amateur tournament with padding and no facial punches right They're just building up a pipeline to build up the roster for Koshien 10 years into the future.

I dunno, just thought it funny that the youngest K-1 champ was technically a 6 year old.

Hey Karaev Fan, is there any connection between the people from Good Loser and FEG? The product they produce is real similar to what FEG as doing. Maybe some of the same employees?

Regardless, I LOVE that Good Loser has taken the K-1 name and what they have done with it.

Snubnoze, I'm not sure if anyone who was an actual staff member of FEG is working in the new order (the company closed in disgrace after all). However, there are a few guys working in the new order that planned events in cooperation with FEG K-1. My guess is that those guys are trying hard to keep the vibe alive.

The new headman of K-1 WGP is Kensaku Maeda. In addition to being an oldschool badass in kickboxing in his own right and being the founder of Team Dragon, he was also the program organizer of the K-1 Koshien and Youth Leagues for FEG. He chairmans the "K-1 Executive Committee" composed of other vets like Kohiruimaki, Daiguji Susumu and Kajiwara Ryuuji which is responsible for matchmaking and event planning.

The operations is done by Good Loser, which was a company founded with FEG support back in 2009 with FEG support. Most of the guys there should be veterans from All Japan Kickboxing Federation after that org imploded.

There's a different company that's working on event production called M-1 Sports Media (not the M-1 Global that does MMA and knight fighting). I'm not really familiar with them or who's responsible over there, but their main operation seems to be operation of K-1 branded gyms. They opened their first gym in 2013 and now has a chain of about seven gyms ongoing. Some of those they've opened greenfield with K-1 vets as head-trainers (e.g. Kajiwara Ryuji, Ozaki Keiji), others are preexisting top gyms that they've signed on and rebranded over the past year (Team Dragon, Silver Wolf, Krazy Bee, Kohiruimaki Dojo).

In case you can't read Dutch, his ring debut was at the age of 7. "Bad image in Europe" my arse.

Regarding the event it looks like k-4/k-5 rules. Same as the shin-karate organization that runs very popular amateur glove karate tournaments (glove karate = more or less kyokushin but with boxing gloves and punches to the head allowed) in Japan. Shinkarate had a deal with FEG/old K-1 and was licensed to use the names k-2, k-3, K-4 and k-5. K-2 being basically same as k-1, (at least visually, in actuality scoring is closer to kyokushin) and k3-5 rules adding more protective equipment and restrictions. Shin-karate fed a lot of successful fighters to k-1, Masaaki Noiri being possibly the most well known today (him being a youth k-2 champion before entering K-1 Koshien and eventually earning a spot in the real k-1).
