Justin Gaethje feels like he won against Eddie Alvarez, because he lost by KO, not decision

True throwback fighter, isn’t afraid to lose as long as he felt he performed up to his own expectations. Too bad the era of MMA we’re in seems to be hung up on records, consecutive title defenses, and GOAT criteria. I as a fan would rather watch a guy like Justin perform instead of roughly half the title holders in today’s UFC.

Edit: maybe Justin could extend his career by bringing in the great Edmond Tarverdyan to help him with...

Head Movement, Head Movement, Head Movement..!

If he follows Eddie to the ground and keeps kicking his lead leg, Justin would have won. Needs to fight a little bit smarter and not block so many strikes with his face. That said, I'm never missing one of his fights.

No. 1st round was very close could have gone either way. 2nd round Eddie won. 3rd round eddie KO'd him. The only thing Gathje had were low kicks thats it but Eddie countered with vicious body shots in the first round.

Gathje has more than low kicks. Eddie's face was swelled up bad. It looked like he had a broken jaw.

he is only going to fight 6-7 more times he said so we need to appreciate

Then you'll appreciate what he will be like in 10 - 15 years. Boxer Jerry Quarry fought the same way and his brain paid for it in full as the years went on. Take a look at this video starting at the 1:21 mark it's Jerry Quarry at 50 years old and most likely Gaethje will be the same.

His fights are fun, but if he continues fighting the way he does he won't really get much further rankings wise than where he currently is. Also won't have a very long career.

If he’s been any kind of smart with his money he’s already set for life.

I could only find the payouts for 4 out of his 10 WSOF fights, combined with his 2 UFC fights so far and he’s already at $545,000. Obviously that’s before taxes and all that, but he’s got sponsors too. And numerous other fights where pay wasn’t disclosed.

That’s really pretty impressive for a guy who’s only been pro since 2011.

Yea i don't think that's what he's saying.

But that kind of mindset doesn't seem good, in a way you have to respect it too but it can end up really badly for him.

It happens to athletes in other sports as well. Earl Campbell comes to mind. When Earl had the ball you didn't hit Earl, he hit you, however, he only lasted 7 seasons because of it.

Seriously, Earl fucked people up.

The guy just need something to keep going, he got outclassed in his first fight against top competition.

what happened to him "breaking" other fighters? That's what he and his coach were saying. Sounds like a bullshit excuse to make himself feel better about losing.

Sorry but just cause a guy could take a beating doesn't mean he's a good fighter, just a good punching bag.

Title is from the article not me. MMAFighting is click bait central.
I'm digging the Wick McGregor Avi... well done!

Hmmm.... we'll give you half a slide on that one then... you could've corrected it in your post.

Shedoggers are held to a much higher standard than clickbait reporters.

I'm surprised he lasted even 7 seasons with that style. But there's definitely something to it.

I've got that in my 401k and didn't have to take a single punch. But I've never made a $100k in one night either..

I thought Eddie was about to break every time Justin threw another powerful leg kick. And Eddie looked like his Jaw was broke too. Justin is one tough dude. Eddie is even tougher.

Yep, he was a bad dude but he took a lot of damage. Players thought they were going to tackle Earl, next thing you know they are on their ass missing a tooth. <Lmaoo>

Hey mods why did you feel the need to delete that "If you kill your enemy, they win" meme? It was both topical and funny.

that's the brain damage kicking in
